I rewatched S1 and they gave her a little more character. You could see she was being annoying to piss off her parents and she owned up to it. But it seems like that bit of growth went out the window.

I was getting so angry at Mary Louise dismissing Celeste so quickly and easily. These performances are absolutely amazing. Meryl and Reese play off each other so well and I look forward to more of those scenes. That thing Meryl did with her necklace when they were talking. No one told her to do that. She’s so exceptionally talented. Those little nuances that she brings to a character are so effortless.

It's really not that hard to understand. Even if she saw him beating on Celeste herself she'd still think he was her angel.

I'm still watching episode 2, but there definitely is some victim blame-y attitude to Mary Louise as well. Like I feel if Celeste told her Perry abused her she would be like 'well, what did you do'.

The makeup team must hate Shailene b/c she was orange and frosty af the entire episode.

Mary Louise is low key vicious. I don't see anyone else doing her character the justice that it is receiving from Meryl.

Madeline's kids remain the worst.
