Wade Robson was a major part of 2000s pop culture by choreographing and directing tours for Britney Spears and NSYNC, being the catalyst for the Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake break up, and choreographing and winning Emmys for some of the most memorable So You Think You Can Dance routines when the show was in its prime. The above videos are ( Read more... )

I'm so obsessed with this post OP! Thank you! I am about to be in dance heaven. I grew up with a similar story to Britney, but with dreams of Star Search and then collegiate or olympic gymnastics, not fame. I was obsessed with Paula, Janet, Madonna, Michael, Bowie and Prince growing up. I grew interested in Britney from day one, semi-interested in other boybands and singers because of their choreography, loved Ciara, Aaliyah, Christina, Pink, and even payed attention to Justin...because of Wade. I definitely knew who he was when I didn't know other choreographers because of MTV and shows like Making the Video. This will be a fun post to settle in!
ETA: my computer and browser are weary, but this was so thorough and informative. lots of clips I haven't seen before and some I hadn't seen in a long time. I remembered why I stan Britney (it's largely due to Wade's choreography), I still hate MJ, and I still really admire Wade and his incredible talents, which definitely go way past "dancing good".

ty op for reminding people just how successful wade has been in his own right. so many mj stans/apologists swear up and down that he's out for money and it's like uhhh he has his own? he doesn't need to "smear" mj's "legacy" to get ahead. but they know if they factor in wade's success then that leaves no room for dismissing his truth.

That's one of the most annoying things about MJ stans... they really like to pretend that they've never heard of Robson as a successful choreographer. I even found him annoying when he seemed to be EVERYWHERE for a while.

A lot of MJ stans have deluded themselves into thinking that Wade can't dance lmao. Also they, Brandi, and Taj claim no one in the dance industry supports Wade anymore and that he only accused MJ of abuse because he no longer had money, fame, or success after his mental breakdowns. Like... what do you think caused the mental breakdowns...?

Jackson estate, Brandi, Taj, MJ stans also claim Wade came forward because he was bitter about Jaimie King being chosen for tour director of Cirque MJ show, but Wade has said that he was part of 3 iterations of the show as a choreographer and he was the one who dropped out. Meanwhile Brandi and Taj in that interview with Sandusky-denier, John Ziegler, literally said that they actually have no idea why Wade wasn't chosen as the director for the Cirque MJ show lol.

Haha I don’t know if Wade actually sings (back when Wade was making an album that never ended up happening cause he kept getting drawn back to dance/choreography I think his mom talked about him getting vocal lessons tho lol), but I know he used to rap when he was really young lol. He was in that rap duo Quo under MJ’s label. Also in that movie Kazaam, We Genie, is rapped by Shaq and Wade, with Francis Capra lip syncing to Wade’s rapping lol.

Also fun fact it’s Wade’s voice doing the background chants in NSYNC’s Celebrity

Hahaha Wadeston amazing. But Wade and Janet will probably never work together again and Janet would probably work with JT before she worked with Wade, since Janet believes MJ is innocent so rip.

Fantastic post, OP, thank you so much for doing all that hard work!

I was a massive NSYNC stan back when they were together and knew of Wade through them, but I didn't know he choreographed a lot of the other videos you posted. He's incredible.

I knew about his DWTS Macy’s Stars of Dance and SYTYCD Ramalama Bang Bang and choreography for NSYNC and Britney, but came across a NY times article from 2001 linked in an article about Leaving Neverland that talked about Wade doing the choreography for Usher, P!nk, and Mya’s Janet Jackson MTV icon tribute and was shook because I used to be obsessed with it and didn’t know Wade was the one who choreographed it. Then I started looking for all his choreography over the years and came across stuff he also directed or remixed as well and decided to make this giant compilation post haha.

God, 'Ramalama (Bang Bang)' is one of my most favorite songs ever, and the choreo he put together for that performance was perfection! If it wasn't for this post, I never would have watched that. Fucking love it!

And just like you, I never knew he directed and choreographed that Janet tribute with Pink and Mya, etc... Such a talented human being 💘

Ramalama always gets stuck in my head because of how many times I’ve watched the SYTYCD group routine. Also the original season 2 version is already great, but the season 5 version where Wade himself danced in it too was another level. Wade is really a dancer in a class of his own.

This was The New York Times article from 2001 linked in articles about Leaving Neverland and there were so many revelations for me. Joy saying that Wade financially supported the family since he was 10, Wade dating Mayte Garcia (Prince’s ex-wife), Wade choreographing the 2001 Super Bowl halftime show, and Wade choreographing Mya, P!nk, and Usher’s MTV icon tribute to Janet.

Also comparing the 2001 MTV Icon to 2015 BET Janet dance tribute, you can really see the difference in choreography level from Wade at just age 18 and Gil Duldulao ( ... )
