I watched "Us" yesterday and was super disappointed. I thought it was pretty boring and not scary for the most part, the acting was quite hammy, and the "twist" was so obvious from the beginning. I was glad my friend who I went with felt the same way. I thought I was taking crazy pills at first, because I expected to see something completely different.

I also saw "Free Solo" two nights ago and while I thought it wasn't really well-done, the footage of the climb itself was so amazing. Could have done with less talking and more climbing.

i just came back from seeing The Abyss! i'd never seen it before. it was pretty fantastic. except there was a section of men laughing every time mary elizabeth mastrontonio got called a bitch (frequently), i hope they felt my side eye from the back.

Saw The Mustang earlier this week - it's slow in a way a lot of ppl here would probably find boring, and doesn't break a ton of new ground, but I liked it anyway.

Definitely gonna see High Life, but it's not @ any of my AMCs yet, smh. I hate that they don't even try to compete with Arclight & Landmark for indies, bc neither Arclight nor Landmark offers a subscription plan.

Trying to decide between going to see Pet Sematary tonight (I reserved Dolby seats a week or two ago and they are very good) or a free preview screening of the FX Fosse/Verdon series. I don't think there's a guest at the F/V screening (no one has been announced, anyway) so I'm thinking I might as well wait for it to premiere next week.

I wanted to ask someone who's seen it: In Mustang, is the main character supposed to be Latino? I got a feeling from the trailer that he's supposed to be Latino (especially bc of the crown tattoo which typically means Latin Kings) and I know Matthias is white, so...
