Oh my God my heart just sunk, no way has it been 5 years!

I loved the finale at the time but I think it's because I was going through a breakup and my tragic AF self felt like if Ted and Robin could end up together then me and my ex totally could end up together too.

Now I'm disgusted at the thought of it!

i watched half the series but was never invested, but i have a friend that will defend the ending till the death and the way i debate with her about it every time, you'd think i cared

but i remember seeing a tweet sometime earlier this year or last, that talked about how the awful finale was truly the only lasting impact this show had, because it's ending soured so much of the series and burned so many fans, that any cultural impact it had at the time has quickly faded away and it's so true

100%. I wont watch reruns now, or casually watch an episode out of nostalgia. It ruined the series.

You literally can't bring up the show without someone mentioning the shit finale. They truly ruined their own show's legacy. And I really think they thought people would be legit ~blown away~ by it or something. Like they thought they had done something so clever and people would just LOVE IT. I think it's why they've all seemingly doubled down on the finale being good.

Hah same? I mean I don’t stan it but I didn’t think it was awful. But I HATED Robin and Barney together from start to finish so maybe that’s why.

I can’t watch re-runs now, not because of the ending, but because the later seasons made all of the characters incredibly annoying to me so I just can’t.
