I think if you need a mental health day/personal day, you need a day. It doesn't matter if it's after a break-up or a fight or if you just woke up in that ~mood~, mental health is important and if you can take the day, take the day and fuck anybody who judges the reason.

If you’re going to be useless at work bc you can’t stop crying/obsessing/thinking about it then yes. Sometimes having a body there is more work than covering for that person. It’s sucks that it’s ingrained in us to not burden our coworkers if we’re not there but also like fuck it.

I have so much sick time banked up that I do take mental health days sometimes bc there are days where I just can’t fathom bothering to deal with the shit my office brings.

I’m better off being distracted by my work. But I know not every person or situation is the same so if I have a co-worker who needs a mental health day off or time to heal it’s fine with me.

No, I didn't. But I feel like my coworkers wish I would have tbh, since I obsessed over it all day.

Working from home sounds like the dream. A friend of mine works for Health Net and works from home and she seems to love it.

I used to be a Montessori teacher, but then I realized I was never going to be paid much more than minimum wage and my rent is my whole paycheque now. I got a job booking surgeries at a hospital and it pays my bills and funds for vacations. It's not my passion, but I have pension, benefits, flexible hours. I just fulfill myself with my hobbies and I'm very happy and do not regret leaving teaching.
