...and how was this attack supposed to raise his salary?

my guess is he was trying to become the most famous person on the show and thus salary raise
with the public's sympathy raising his profile, he could use it as leverage for a pay raise

I made the mistake of reading the comments on my local news' Facebook post of this, and wow, people are the worst

It sucks that this story has totally emboldened racists to confirm their POV about what they think is going on in the world

That’s one of the things pissing me off most about this. It’s emboldened the racists to accuse us of being liars. They’re conveniently forgetting that in most cases the victims of hate crimes are telling the truth.

Tbh this is one of the only places I feel okay reading the comments on this case. Everywhere else is a cesspool of ppl gleeful it’s fake (I mean there were a few comments that kind of had that air about them here but magnitudes less than literally anywhere else).

Me too. ONTD is the only place I've been getting my news and reading comments about this case. I don't trust the comments anywhere else to be thoughtful. ONTD isn't perfect but for the most part people at least try to give the benefit of the doubt and actually discuss things.

God, I hate this so much. But I wish those people wouldn't delete their statements -- again, there is nothing wrong with giving a person a benefit of the doubt for good reason(s) and then later admitting you were wrong. It doesn't make you naive or a moron to not instantly be a cynical asshole with stuff like this.

Yeah but I also don't blame them. People are so quick to weaponize old tweets and it's hard to provide depth and context when we live in a world of quick sound bytes. Tbh I would probably delete my old tweet too, and then maybe tweet something like Ava Duverney did about still believing victims going forward.

This case was a ride. I admit I went back and forth with believing him and not believing him. Now I'm just kind of like ok.
