Lmao at this being the first comment but IA, and I’ve never seen nor heard of this show but it doesn’t seem like the kind of show the people i would imagine would pay for such a service would be interested in

It seems like Sundance heard "British" and Shudder heard "vampire" and both are bound to be a bit surprised.

I dunno. British TV distribution is a mess.

Shudder makes sense for die-hard horror fans, but Sundance is a mystery.

I tried watching it. I think I manned to get to episode 2, but the trope of the skinny white blonde woman being the chosen one was just tiring. It made watching really irritating.

I'm not sure if I'll give it another try. Maybe it moves away from the trope later on? But I had really hoped I would like it since I love supernatural dramas.

Eh, its charm is in being a bit cliched and silly. I think episode 3 hits a good stride but if it's not your thing then it's not your thing.

Yeah I think it'll work provided they're allowed to cut the really draggy bits of the book.

I kinda liked it at first but after they fucked and went to his chateau in France the plot kinda jumped the shark, imo. It was all just a bit too silly for me with the witch fights, the vampire running, the head in a box etc., and I honestly didn't understand why she was suddenly so incredibly in love with him after only knowing him for a little while. What did they even have in common beyond her being into history and him being very old? I need a little more buildup before I buy the "You will never tear us apart, our love is too strong!" declarations.

Yeah, I can see that. Normally it would've been a cutoff for me, too, but I think after years of frustrating slow burns I enjoyed the goofiness of their fast love.

It's worth saying that it allows season 2 to actually focus on her powers rather than a will-they-won't-they.

I really like this show. Teresa Palmer is gorgeous and whoever styles her for the show does a great job.

I’m looking forward to season 2, Diana learning more about her powers and meeting other witches who still have their powers will be awesome. Also, I want to see Marlowe’s relationship with Matthew. I haven’t read the books but a friend suggested them to me after I watched the series, but then other people are telling me to skip the books and just enjoy the show.

"Friendship" but yes.

The book is fairly disappointing in both of those regards but Matthew's ominous stepdad turns out to be one of the series' most interesting characters. So looking forward to that.

I read the first book, did not like it and decided not to watch the show before I knew it would be hard to even get (no way am I paying $6 a month for it).

I do know someone who loves the books though, so there is a fanbase out there for them - it just isn't me.

Fwiw, I hated the books and loved the show. They changed the tone and pace quite a bit.
