For anyone who didn't watch the Sky One series back when it was airing earlier this fall, you can now catch the first two episodes in Canada and the United States on Shudder & Sundance*, which will then drop the full eight-episode season on January 17th.

Here's Teresa with a Christmas Tinsel Crown thanking you for your support:

To start:

There still isn't a firm update on Season 2 but it's almost certainly not going to air until early-to-mid 2020.

The book's author recently shared a post on a private Facebook page (she's asked people not to cut/paste) saying that the exact start date for filming isn't definite, but that Sarah Dollard (the writer for episode 7) will be writing the first episode, and Susie Conklin (previously the show's script supervisor, and screenwriter for The Musketeers among other things) will take over lead writer/writing showrunner duties from Kate Brooke (who is focusing on Season 2 of her own show, Bancroft). More writers will be announced as they're officially brought on board, but it won't just be Conklin and Dollard.

In an interview with Fansided, following an appearance at New York Comic Con, series' author and executive producer, Deborah Harkness, said that she knew Matthew Goode was perfect for the role from the first time she saw him read, and that after a chemistry test with Teresa it was "clear there was nobody else who could possibly play these roles."

In a separate interview following at a book signing for the series' latest book, Harkness talked a little bit about some things she personally wants to see in Season 2, and confirms that we will be flashing foward to the present-day even with Matthew and Diana stuck in the past. And yes, if you haven't read the second book, if Season 1 was basically Twilight but with professors, Season 2 is Outlander but with vampires.

The video itself isn't that long, and it's mostly about the new book, so I can give you the quick and dirty: she's interested to see what they do with Marcus's newfound responsibility, she's excited to see how they'll stage a fairly big showdown between some existing present-day characters, she hopes we'll see more of Philippe (Matthew's 'step dad'), and then more Gallowglass (the books' most overrated character that viewers haven't met yet but book readers love because he sounds hot). In any event, the good news is that it sounds like she's fairly hands-off with the script, because I trust the work the screenwriters did with Season 1 and really want to see how they'll update/improve book 2's massively messive narrative.

*They're smaller streaming channels owned by AMC -- one devoted to prestige dramas, the other to horror, so essentially both are complete mismatches for this beautifully silly fantasy show but that's none of my business, etc. It's about $6 a month for either, it's not included with Amazon Prime membership.
