this is a hella late reply, but we never went to kingdom hall aside from easter or the sporadic weekend, so i never really had any real impression of religion/church other than That Place We Go To Because Grandmas A Bitch. once i hit kindy, it was a perfect trifecta of what the fuck you mean you get birthday presents + wait explain halloween again + hold up yall get more presents at christmas??????

the only useful thing i took away from jdub bullshit was not having to stand for the pledge. i never did as a kid because i didnt have to and was a smug shit about it

I remember watching one of those "True Stories of the ER" shows about a boy who almost died after a car wreck because his mom refused to let doctors give him a blood transfusion. I can't imagine believing in a religion so strongly that you could just let your child die.

Also, a kid in my elementary school was a JV. All I remember is that he had to leave the classroom whenever we did any holiday activities.

but my mom was a teacher and she gets RIOTOUS about JW kids being excluded from all the holiday activities. She said the kids were so clearly depressed about it every time.

That happened to my cousin (before I was born). Not an accident but she did need transfusions to survive. To this day, half of my dad's side of the family is still a JW. Even this particular cousin's sister who was the most affected by her death, and even though she was excommunicated for a while not too long ago. It's crazy to me.
