I totally agree. Someone who is way more Left than Clinton (who's a war criminal just like her spouse), but Harris supports the existence of ICE and Warren, I'm not so sure about. Either way, the Dems aren't gonna let someone too radical get in the race.

Then why are more and more Dems with presidential aspirations starting to adopt more leftist policies like Medicare for All and abolishing ICE?

Because Medicare for all is polling with a 70% approval rating. It's no longer some radical far left proposal.

I haven't seen a number of Dem candidates calling for ICE to be abolished. I see them saying it needs major reform. Gillibrand, Harris. Even Warren says it should be "rebuilt." That's not saying it should be abolished. They all stop short of that.

Exactly my point. Leftists are being dismissed for being too "radical" when in fact their ideas are more popular than ever. People need to re-evaluate what they think of as "radical." The country isn't as right as people think. You just need to get the messaging right and allow these ideas to flourish instead of immediately shutting them down as too radical, too unrealistic, etc.

"Their ideas" have been discussed since the early 1990's. They didn't just come up with them last week. Medicare for all/affordable healthcare/universal healthcare has been discussed on a national level since 1993. That's 25 years.

Of course the idea isn't considered too radical any more, especially after years of the ACA. But I don't think Medicare for all is a good example of a far left platform. The country is plenty right and moderate and still isn't ready for the real far left. We wouldn't have Trump in office if they were.

Not to nitpick, but subsidized, universal healthcare has been floated around the American political stratosphere since the thirties--or the last time socialist legislation was passed somewhat regularly in the United States. Both Roosevelts championed the idea, as did the Truman administration.

Just don't call them socialist, you commie!

You are absolutely right. I wouldn't mind seeing a Democrat bring back the WPA and get something going on infrastructure for real.

In an effort to separate herself from Bernie, Warren has gotten so weird about how much she loves capitalism. Someone like that will have a really hard time engaging youth and left voters.

I’m telling you we need a classic centrist like Biden as president, someone who represents a return to normalcy, who fed-up republicans can muster the strength to vote for and then the VP needs to be someone from the “new” wing of the democratic socialist side or ideally a person of color (though if he loses Beto should be considered as well because he energizes voters across the spectrum). I have thought for a long time the only winning ticket is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

I would absolutely vote for that ticket.

The sad thing is that becoming the president automatically makes you a war criminal.
