I totally agree. Someone who is way more Left than Clinton (who's a war criminal just like her spouse), but Harris supports the existence of ICE and Warren, I'm not so sure about. Either way, the Dems aren't gonna let someone too radical get in the race.

Someone who is way left of Clinton would never get elected in 2020. This is a national vote, not Brooklyn.

Did you forget that multiple states in the midwest and south have elected folks far left of Clinton, some even who ran on being Democratic Socialists? Sounds like it.

Can you count them on one hand? Are any of them in the Senate or are they lower offices?

I haven't forgotten anything. Get back to me when one quarter of Congress is far left.

We're talking about the Presidency. The nation is not going to elect anyone from the far left in 2020.

uhhh same could be said about the republican party before trump came around...

What "same"? The Republicans were the majority in the House and the Senate when Obama was President. I don't know what you mean.

Are you proposing they run Michael fucking Bloomberg?

These middle of the road Dems are people like Bloomberg, Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden, Joe Manchin, etc.

LOL, how did you jump to Bloomberg from what I said? omg, no. I don't like Bloomberg at all, and I don't think he stands a chance. Chuck Schumer needs to go, he's terrible. Joe Biden is coasting on good will and nostalgia from the Obama years. I don't think he will decide to run in the end. Joe Manchin is in a red state. He does what he needs to in order to get re-elected. It's him or a Republican. He counts as a Dem as far as getting a majority goes. That's his only value, and someone left of him couldn't get elected in West VA. That's the problem.

If you want to see someone from the far left as President, have them serve a few terms in Congress or the Senate or as a Governor. They're not going to pop up in the spring of 2019 and get elected President in 2020.

They wouldn't win, that's why the Dems don't let it happen. The United States is not that leftist as a whole. Even in states like California, if you look at voting patterns any other place that isn't San Francisco or LA city, it's pretty central or conservative. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing in New York state. What saves those states is that those liberal cities just happen to have more voting power.

Bernie Sanders clearly paints that picture out. He's not a true Democrat and never was. The Democratic party needs someone with a big voice, and persuasion power, that knows how to toe the line without pissing any side off.

Yeah, but the way the country is headed needs to have something that will really turn it around for those who need it the most.

But that's not how it works in real life. Voters don't go from one extreme to the other. They'll be looking for someone moderate who doesn't frighten Independents and moderates, who are the swing voters that actually decide elections.

But then you get a Macron-type figure, who won't genuinely attempt to change the system, and who's popularity numbers will quickly sink upon the public's realization of that fact...leaving us, again, ripe for fascist takeover ( ... )

That's all well and good, but would you rather have 4 years of a Macron-like figure or 4 more years of Trump?

I agree Obama could have been a lot better, but I can blame the GOP for blocking almost everything. I wish there were a lot of things he did differently, but it's too late for that now.

I want the Dems to run someone who can get elected. Period. Someone from the far left is not going to get elected in 2020.

Okay, but statistically you're going to effect more change with a moderate executive and a progressive legislature. FDR types who can steamroll radical change while maintaining political stability (a really key point a lot of people seem to forget) are extremely rare products of circumstance.
