. @target @targetstyle @targetdoesitagain I am disgusted by what I was told. Arrest me for trying to help someone. The stupidity behind that rule. I want an explanation. My fans and followers please message #Target regarding this. JB pic.twitter.com/pNZ3Sfy3qZ

I used to work for target a while ago.
There's no reason for this to have happened... Sounds like an isolated incident.

Something seems off about this tbh...

You go to cash register with your things. You leave. You do what you want with said things.

Yeah, there is definitely something missing from this story. Why would the Target staff even know he was buying for a homeless person unless he told them? My daughter works in a coffee shop and she says that people always make a big production about buying coffee for homeless people - they feel the need to tell her all about it like LOOK AT ME BEING KIND TO THE HOMELESS WITH MY FIVE DOLLAR CAPPUCCINO.

The only thing i could think of is he told the cashier what he was doing (to make small talk or whatever), and then he/she was like "uhh...you shouldn't be doing that" (which i don't get why? Maybe he/she felt it would encourage homeless people to loiter around? I dunno)

Anyho, Target had to deal with all that bathroom backlash. Kinda sucks to have someone else pile on.

In any case, Target > walmart.

That's what I was thinking, too. Sometimes, you say you're doing something good to make yourself feel good and maybe encourage others to do the same. Maybe that's what happened here?

The only thing I can think is that the staff figured the homeless man would return everything for cash. Which, aside from the gift certificate, he would be allowed to do. All the items were purchased so they can be returned for any reason within the allowable time. And honestly, this is discrimination and profiling.

well, the homeless person would need the receipt. Otherwise, they'd just get a gift card for store credit.
Which, in theory, the person could get some beer for.

But yes, none of their business.

Well this is weird. How would the staff know what he was going to do with the stuff he bought? And upon knowing, why would they stop him?

I'm pretty sure there was a similar story a few weeks ago, at a different Target. Gonna go look for it

That WeHo target has a lot of bigoted staff which doesn’t surprise me.
