i remember staying up sooo late to watch their press conference when they announced that their last album was a biggest hits album, i was so fucking mad, but besides anything Kpop they are my absolute favorite girl group, RIP Girls Aloud

I don't think anyone came to GA for the amazing vocals. What's amazing is that they went on this talent show, the kind of talent show that usually focuses too much on vocal prowess, and the selected members were completely average singers, and not model pretty either, and the show went on to flop soon after, but they released some of the most inventive, genre-bending music of the decade, had 20 top ten hits in a row and is one of the most successful girl groups of all time. There was magic there. Xenomania haven't been able to do anything near as good before or since.

Not sure anyone believed they were all strawberries and pillow fights either. They always were a ragtag bunch, which was part of their appeal.

As for talent I think we can conclude Nicola's got most of it, not for belting out high notes but creatively, as a songwriter etc.

It always seemed pretty obvious to me that they didn't like each other. Which was probably why I could never stan for the band, even though at the time they were making the kind of music I was into. That tension/facade showed and made them come off as fake for me.

Though that's probably a commentary on the way women have to be seen to be bestest best pals and aren't allowed to just have professional only relationships. If they hadn't all pretended to be best mates you can imagine the publicity that would have ensued
