My brother dealt with this in his (lame, short-lived) modeling career. These labels/agencies will keep you signed just to keep you away from the competition, but also because if you're going to produce anything of value, it's gonna be for the company that already has you. It costs the label nothing to keep Brandy contracted, Why would they let her go make music for someone else? If she had anything good up her sleeve, she's stuck releasing it for the people who already signed her, which is something she should have considered before signing the contract and spending her advance. The label isn't doing anything wrong here. Brandy signed a contract.
