Stars have voiced support for the Stop Yulin Forever Campaign. This brings awareness to the Lychee and Dog Meat Festival in Yulin China . According to supporter Ricky Gervais "The dogs are tortured to 'make the meat tastier.' They are also skinned and boiled alive. It's not a food festival. It's Hell."

Me too. But at least now we have the chance to do something about it. I can't click any of these links to give money tho because I'm already upset enough about all the animals and people being tortured in the world right now. Gonna make my boyfriend do it.

Jesus Christ I really didn't want to know that. Genuinely upsetting, sorry but animal torture should never be acceptable to anyone.

Honestly, I don't think it is acceptable most people in China.
China has a long history of animal rights activists. And right now they are some of the bravest in the world; they stop trucks full of dogs on the freeway and forcibly rescue them. Look up the Chinese history of soy meat analogs - they invented they concept a long time ago so people could stop eating meat.
I don't think this is an issue where western values are being forced on a population. We wouldn't even know about Yulin if it weren't for Chinese activists.

wow that's amazing to know

brings me a bit of comfort that some lives do get saved and ppl in china are putting themselves out there like that by helping out.

i remember reading a story of this group of activist that saved some dogs (idk if it was in china tho) but at the same time they also gave machinery to farm or something to the people that were in the ~dog business~ so they could still survive by doing something much less brutal for a living. im trying to look for it but cant find it. it was a rly nice win/win situation.

I'm really glad you brought this up. Yulin is horrific and it perpetuates a hugely pernicious stereotype about asians.
