It was announced today that GACKT will have the lead role in the movie 'Karanukan', due for release in 2017. It's his first lead role in a movie in 14 years - since MOON CHILD.

Exactly my thoughts. Why all the really young girls/women? Why can't an age appropriate actress ever be paired up with 40+ year old leading actors? :/

Because women are only good for looking pretty and making babies. The instant a woman turns 26 her ovaries shrivel up and die and she turns into an ugly hag.

Jokes aside, I had the same reaction. If the girl is supposed to be the river goddess, maybe she can incarnate herself in any form she pleases, say, as an 18-year old girl. Even with that justification though it's hard to ignore that this is a sexist pattern in many movies including those that don't have a supernatural excuse.
