Facebook stinks. Still.

I was reading an article on Macworld which describes the improvements to the privacy settings. This part made me laugh:

It reduced the number of settings required to make all information private from nearly 50 to fewer than 15.

I am no interface designer, but Ian pretty sure you could do it with one setting called "make all information private"

ok. yes. but is that really that useful?

what does "make all information private" mean? just you? just your direct friends? how about friends of friends? do you not want to see pictures of your friends that their friends may have posted?

the funny thing is that they're trying to be like twitter, where this really isn't an issue at all, and they're getting killed for it. and the really funny thing is that below a certain age, kids don't really give a shit. they're used to and expect to share everything.

which isn't to say that FB shouldn't make these privacy controls available or reasonable. but kneejerk reactions aren't the answer either.

if you just want to sit in a private little hole, why not just go back to something closed like livejournal? oh, wait...

I was gonna bitch slap you for being so purposefully thick-headed, but you were so nice in your other comment. How about a setting that says "Share info with friends only"? Which is what I MEANT. nerd.
