Hey, girls! This is my first post. 'Mark does stuff' brought me here and I'm very glad to have discovered you. I have to admit, I read 50 shades when it was still a fic and it was still updating weekly. Don't judge, I was going through a very strange period of my life and was basically surviving on reading smut. Now I can't believe it's a bestseller (wtf?)and they sold tens of millions of copies (double WTF?!).The fact is, back then it made me curious about some things and about kink and it was pretty much a start point of research for me. It's strange looking back now, because I've been in a D/s relationship for two years now and this book and the dynamics between these two people are an insult to the lifestyle and to the community. A D/s relationship is meant to be CONSENSUAL. Christian claims he doesn't need to dominate Anna, but at the same time, he forces her unconsensually in a kind of total power exchange relationship. And she is too naive to see that she's being manipulated by an insecure idiot. He's not a Dominant, because ( ... )

Thanks for commenting and reading our posts! It's great to hear the perspective of those in the D/s community regarding this book. Ing and I only know what we've learned from research, but it was pretty obvious right off the bat that something was very wrong in this portrayal!
