It was a nice weekend. As usual, I feel that I didn't do nearly enough. I wish I could get all of the guys together for a month at an isolated camp somewhere. With a month of daily training, maybe six or eight hours a day, I think I could really accomplish something with them. Michael the Tinker's kabuto (helmet) is finished. It's a damed pretty one. There are things I would like to change about it, of course, but that's the nature of life. I feel odd this morning. It's as bright a Sunday as one might hope for. The temperature is a very reasonable 69 degrees. My cat Chloe is perched on the windowsill above me, transfixed by the sparrows that nest in the thick ivy on the side of the house. I have every reason to feel just fine, and I kind of do. I have a genuine affection for southern storytellers. Not the professionals, but the people who sit out on their porches on a hot summer afternoon and spin out yarns or 'fancy up' things that have happened to them. As some of you may know, I totaled my truck a little while ago. My poor little '93 Toyota pickup went the way of all things. I didn't really mind that much.
