Just got home from the Opening Night performance of Cactus Flower - and it went really well. I'm really happy with it. The audience was laughing, the scenes went smoothly, and I think everyone just felt really exhilarated to start with such a great night! I think she feels nervous that she might fail at something. Reassure her it's alright to make mistakes and it's better to try and learn new things than remain "safe" and not fulfill her obligations! Because this is just the beginning, if she can't handle this, in life later on, she'd have even bigger problems.
Could you run her through the process again and have her take notes for herself? Or you can make a print-out for her for the cash register process. I used to work retail and the first few weeks I relied on a cheat sheet, hahaha.
What are collections? If they involve less front-line work it might make it easier. It sounds like she's not just introverted, but might have social anxiety.
But I guess, you need to make it clear that she needs to ask questions if she's unclear about anything and that it is completely okay to do so.
