win some, lose some - part one: june

Glee. 7,190 Words. Noah Puckerman; Puck/Rachel. I don't know if I should admit this, but the whole premise for this fic was born from me listening to too much Robbie Williams while writing A Chance to Make It Good Somehow and getting inspired by his song, Win Some, Lose Some. The summer after Puck's Junior year, told in three parts. This is June.

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed what you've seen thus far. I know I'll sound certifiably loony by saying this, but GOODNESS, "miserable but charming" as a description for this ridiculous excuse for a 17 year-old boy resonates to my very core. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback-- can't say enough how much everyone's comments brighten my day.

Oh, this was just brilliant. I love the idea of Puck and Rachel coming together like this. It's slow and unexpected; built on this type of pseudo friendship.

This was my very favorite part (which is saying a lot because so many parts of this were perfect):

They finish their lunch on the swings by the playground across the street, Rachel bitching about her latest devil kid, and him running through chords in his head. When he pulls out his guitar and slings it over his shoulder, she crosses her arms and sighs exasperatedly ( ... )

Okay, HOLD THE PHONE, another Avett Brothers fan!!! The fact that the part you listed was your favorite made me grin like a LOON because, A) I was nervous about whether I could pull it off (I'm always wary to throw in moments like that because they can feel so forced and awkward..How can you really convey someone singing a song through fic? It's basically impossible), and B) YOU APPRECIATE THE GRAVITY OF THE AVETTS. Seriously, you win.

Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you for the wonderfully kind review! It goes without saying that I'm so happy you're enjoying it so far. I can't wait to write the rest!!

Yo, how many times have I read this? A lot. And I love it more every time. But you know this, because I tell you all the fucking time.

When he told his mom that he didn’t really feel it-that it was hard when neither person really felt anything for each other-she’d just put a hand on his face: if you pretend long enough, one day it’ll be real.
This part fucking OWNS me. Completely.

Although it's not my favorite element of the story. It's clearly, CLEARLY, Mr. Bam-Bam himself. I could write odes to this man.

I'm finding it really hard to comment because I know where this is going and I don't want to give anything away so I WILL FLAIL TO YOU IN PRIVATE, OK?

But I will say this: Sandy. Oh Sandy.

Okay, I might have to write a Bam-Bam/une_fille drabble featuring angst, French cinema, and Band of Horses' No One's Gonna Love You. Just sayin'.

For reals, I don't know what I'd do if not for you and your wifey. <3

OMG. OH MY GOOOOOOD. Ok this is like the BEST THING EVER. I know I say that for all your fics but THIS. THIS IS *ACTUALLY* THE BEST THING EVER. Puck's in a band! And his bandmates are AWESOME. And Rachel's their manager! (I mean of course she is, what would she be a groupie?! Btw, I hope someone teases her about being a groupie xD) And her working at that diner reminded me of Monica from "FRIENDS" when she had a familiar job xD I love this SO much. You better update soon:D

Ahh, thanks!! I'm so happy you're enjoying it. I had been toying with the idea for a while, so it was a lot of fun to put it to paper. Can't wait to write the rest! And OMG, I totally forgot about that episode of Friends but you're totally right!! Man, good call.

Oh and I forgot to mention how much I LOVE that there's a "Grease" feel to it. I don't know if you were going for that but I was totally reminded of that movie all through out:D
