Ever since broaching the subject of moving out, my parents have given me plenty of advice. From my mom came the practical advice of making a budget and recording expenses. One of the reasons we got married when we did was because we knew we loved each other, and we knew we'd enjoy being with each other for the rest of our lives. Another reason was because we were both independent people. Neither of us lived in our parent's households anymore, we each had our own jobs and we were largely supporting ourselves independently ( ... )

To be honest, I'm not sure how either set of parents truly feels about it. It's always been a goal for the future, so often when we bring it up the subject is changed to more immediate matters. Considering my mother once referred to our co-habitation as "playing house" chances are an impending ceremony is not going to change that.

The problem is that we both have part-time jobs and in this economy we're not likely to easily get more income. We make enough to fairly comfortably move out together, but not enough for a wedding or a house.

You and I both know your parents are probably just worrying about their daughter. It's natural. However, that doesn't make it any less annoying that they can;t seem to just trust you to make the right decision for you.

I feel your pain.
