My last semester starts on Wednesday. I am so eager to have this experience over with. I went with Ryan a few days ago to the central administrative headquarters on campus (Pierce Hall) to pick up graduation applications and for Ryan to get grad school paperwork. Ferenginar on Earth. Glad to hear from you again. :-) Is this the first time you've read The Hobbit? I've read the LotR trilogy somewhere around 10 times over the years, not reading the Hobbit until after I'd read the trilogy a couple of times - a very different style of story.

When I was 16 my parents took me to a Tigers game despite my devout wishes to the contrary. I grabbed a copy of The Hobbit and read it during the majority of the game (and in the car). Between distractions and the disturbing illustrations (scoliosis-ridden elves with enormous widow's peaks, etc.) I hardly remembered what happened.

At this point, I'm in a similar situation that Ryan has with LOTR. He's read the opening chapter more times than he can count, but gets lost in the Old Forest. The Hobbit magically disappears whenever I get to the troll chapter.
