Today I got my paternal grandmother's pedigree. Browsing through it, I found something that might be pretty cool. I am descended from the Frutiger family in Switzerland, which means there is a high probability I am related to Adrian Frutiger, the famous typeface designer. I got a new Visa from my bank in Columbus today. I don't know why, because my current one doesn't expire for a couple of years. When I got that one, I received it in the same month the old card was expiring. This one is good to 2011. Maybe they had to give me a new card when I moved out-of-state ( Read more... )

I've really been neglecting LJ lately. I just haven't had time for it. Since coming back from my grandfather's place, I've been obsessing over his genealogy. I'd like to get something together to give him. I've been spending most of the day doing research. One of the ID seniors who is making a similar style trip with his classmates as we did in Europe is posting pictures to the DC website. Our trip was mostly Western Europe, and they are doing Eastern. The pictures are gorgeous. I am totally jealous.

Somehow Valdez flooded last week. I don't get it. My uncle sent me pictures.

This is the only road in and out of Valdez, through the canyon. Note that river, which even in heavy rain and white water peaks at a good 8 or more feet below the road normally.
