Somehow Valdez flooded last week. I don't get it. My uncle sent me pictures.

This is the only road in and out of Valdez, through the canyon. Note that river, which even in heavy rain and white water peaks at a good 8 or more feet below the road normally.

The past couple days have been gorgeous, sunny, dry, and road crews are working on the road but they say they won't have it open for the general public until "well into next week." Nina and I are gonna try to walkup the goat trail today to see if we can get pictures, but I'm not sure how we'll do because they have the road blocked off just a couple miles away. So we'll see.

Of course, we weren't able to get to the goat trail, as the road is blocked off, so we climbed up Solomon Gulch instead. As we hiked up the trail, I asked Nina if she had her camera and she replied, "It's too heavy to carry."

Me: And yet you planned on carrying it all the way up the goat trail.
Her: Yeah. Go figure.

So we don't have pictures. We came down off the trail, went to town to eat lunch, then came out here to dosome target practice with Nina's bow and arrow. Now I'm like totally tired.

It just sounds like heavy rain.

It's just strange though, because rain is no stranger to Valdez. I'd never seen anything near that.
