I used to watch Foyle occasionally when I visited my parents, but it wasn't until recently that I watched the series through, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't seen the last episode though - the last, last last episode, at least. I'm still secretly hoping that the author will relent for a third time, and carry on writing after all.
I know that Foyle's son was in some of the episodes and Milner was in a lot of them, but the heart of the show's always been Sam and Foyle for me - I think the two of them are the kind of people we'd all like to believe were responsible for us surviving the war. It's hard to imagine anything ever beating Sam for long, and Foyle seems to be the embodiment of stoicism and high morale standards even at the worst of times. I'm delighted that you vidded the show :) I hope that we get more episodes - between Foyle, Sam, Hilda and Glenvil, I think they've got the core cast of a great counter-espionage show. There may yet be more emotive eye-twitches ;)
Aw, did you really? Let me guess, was it the combination of cute/fun/frivolous and British crime drama that gave me away? :p
And yes, definitely all about Foyle and Sam! They were the emotional core of the whole thing. I suspect this one might really have been the end though, which is actually kind of okay with me tbh - I'd hate them to continue it without Sam as his driver.
The British crime drama was the first big hint - the second was the way it'd been vidded so cheerfully to what feels like a music hall song, and has a faintly tongue-in-cheek feel while pointing out that Sam is as irrepressible as they come. It's got the same feeling of warmth and amusement that I got from your Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries vid. I've already sent the link along to mum and dad to watch, and I almost never get them to watch videos.
It'll be a shame if we never get any more Foyle and Sam, but I guess we've had lots of hours with them already, so I shouldn't complain too much. One of the things I like about your vid is the way you captured lots of little looks between the characters - the little expressive gestures that showed how much of a family they all were.
