[ History ] :
a small scroll to Vincent's history.

[ Personality ] :
On the outside, Vincent comes off to be the stereotypical charming young man within female eyes. Men may see this and think he’s a friendly fellow but on the inside Vincent Nightray isn’t all he seems. You may call him eerie or even a full on creep if you knew what hid behind the mask he constantly wore.

As marked previously, Vincent is quite popular with the women. Stating this, it should also be added that he finds them quite disgusting. He doesn’t give much thought into who they really are-- the only thing he thinks about them is how stupid they can be. Quoting, “All those noblewomen.. All that comes out of their mouth is vulgar gossip. A bunch of fools who dress up to woo men.” To elaborate upon his opinion, he also states how feeble-minded and frivolous the female race can be. He would even go as far as to call them simpletons. Vincent thinks they’re all the same-- but he uses this flaw in most women as an opportunity to make them into his own little toy. “All I have to do is utter a few soft words and share their bed to have them wound around my little finger.” Vincent seems to take a small bit of pride in how easily he can manipulate those around him and bend them to his own will. To add on the lists of elements Vincent detests, black magic and ghosts seem to fall under the category along with the occult. Ever since he was a child, he seemed to hate such things as he stated. Such a hatred might have derived from the incidents that had happened from when he opened the door to the abyss and the happenings following such an event that led to the Tragedy.

Another point to be noted is that Vincent seems to be very territorial. This may be because of his obsession of his older brother but there have been other signs of his need to keep things to himself. His own bedroom is closed off to almost everyone else-- either that or the maids in charge of cleaning the rooms at the Nightray estate fear to go into that man’s room. If anything of his were to be touched, he would become extremely upset and even lash out depending on what had been tampered with. The reasoning for Vincent being this way is due to his need to have complete control over his environment and those within it. He can manage to manipulate those who come into contact with him to his own accord; Vincent can even manage to manipulate his own beloved older brother whenever necessary.

On the topic of his sibling, Vincent has an unhealthy adoration for Gilbert. Such a relationship would be confusing to those who look upon it seeing as Vincent cares deeply for his brother-- but he’ll lash out and even lie to him. His most used excuse for such an act is that he’s looking out for his older brother. Vincent means well and wishes to keep his brother close. One might almost call him a sociopath for his attitude towards the one he holds the closest. Also the only one he’d truly give his love to. So even if he does get into spats with Gilbert, Vincent would do anything to keep him safe (he would even go to the lengths of killing anyone who is a threat to Gilbert). Even if Vincent does seem to get angry and become a threat to the people around him, he actually prefers to be quite passive. For example, he’ll speak to someone indirectly to make a point across. But if he does happen to state a fact-- even if it was negative-- it’d be coming off in an almost sarcastic manner. But those should be full aware, he means every vindictive word he says. Regardless of the tone of voice.

Apart from being passive aggressive, Vincent does hold grudges. He never seems to let any of them go, either. Depending on the grudge, he’ll find his way to deliver revenge even if it did take some time such as poisoning them or even getting someone else to kill his enemy for him (i.e; the way he tried to get at Xerxes by poisoning Sharon or how he even tried to get Gilbert to kill Alice). But if Vincent seems to be in a fowl mood and he has his subject at hand, he’ll go out of his way to torture his victim. He’ll use his own scissors to inflict such damage-- going as far as cutting off body parts.

Upon closing, all together Vincent seems to be a sadistic male who lies and cheats for his own gain. But if he so willed it, he could come off as an ordinary male to snare those within his web to turn them into a puppet of his own. This man is not to be trusted; therefore he has learned not to trust anyone around him.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :

weakness: ♘ ; strength: ♞

♘Sunlight. It’s stated that Vincent is weakened when he’s out in the day time. This could be for two reasons; a.) His chain causes him to sleep an obscene amount at any given time so he’s always in doors. He probably can’t adjust to the sunlight as it might put a strain upon his eyes/ or b.) Being out in the sun might cause him to become even more tired due to the warmth of the light. IN B4 VAMPIRE.

♘/♞ His love for his brother. This counts as a strength and a weakness because of his determination to do anything to make his brother happy. Vincent would go as far as murdering people to protect Gilbert, but the faulty side to this strength is that one day it might be his own downfall.

♞ His ability to lie. He can make anyone bend to his own will so he can use them as he sees fit-- as if he was controlling his own chess game with their life.

♘ He does not know what personal space is (mostly to women). He’ll place his hands on whoever he sees fit; one day he might lay his hands on the wrong person. Once again, such a thing may be a downfall.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Not important but Vincent hates carrots. Vincent has a chain called Yamane / Dormouse. It’s ability is to place someone within a deep sleep but only if Dormouse has been in contact with the victim for a certain amount of time. This is also the reason Vincent seems narcoleptic. He’s limited to whom he can put to a deep sleep at a time, having to rest in between uses of Dormouse seeing as the Chain puts a strain upon his body.

He has a knack for touching women. Regardless if given their permission or not. He’ll molest whoever he sees fit if he wants to.

Vincent has heterochromia; two different colored eyes. His right eye is red, the mark of misfortune. Because of this he has been pitied, shunned, and even was a victim to an attempted murder while he was younger. The only kindness he was shown because of this was from Gilbert and Jack Vessalius. His other eye on the other hand, is a gold. Just like Gilbert’s eyes.

He has a servant named Echo whom he’s seen a lot with. He even takes baths with her and has her sit upon his lap when he so wills it. But when Vincent is in a rotten mood, he’ll go as far as to strike her just to release his anger. Even if Echo had nothing to do with his mood.

Vincent also has a nasty habit of cutting up and torturing stuffed animals. His room is most likely littered with the stuffing of his previous stuff victim. He never does seem to clean up after himself; Echo even talks about this when she tells Oz about the things she dislikes about Vincent.

[ Sample ] :

This was truly an odd experience. Not only had he woken up in a distinct place, he was also completely drenched from head to toe. Here he was sitting on the edge of the fountain as he dripped upon the floor. A sigh. He wasn’t surprised, to be honest. At least not too shocked. Is this what he gets for sleeping in odd places? The last thing Vincent seemed to remember was leaving that.. that filthy woman with Echo. Such a thought gave him the slightest headache as he brought a hand to his forehead.

The Ceremony, Gilbert..

His brother-- he left him alone. Didn’t he? Now that he thinks about it, he wasn’t with him when the attacks started happening. Perfectly fine, of course. Big Brother can take care of himself after all. Taking a stand, Vincent scanned the area before spotting a woman. Putting on his false mask, he began walking towards her. A radiant smile.

“Excuse me, Miss. Forgive me, but do you happen to know where I am?” No response. Instead, she just happened to walk away without giving him the slightest bit of attention. Such an action caused the Nightray to furrow his brow and break his faux appearance. He wasn’t surprised-- this is why he detested women. Incompetent creatures they were.

Turning around, he only spoke to himself. “No matter, I’ll find out one way or another.” Even if it meant going to speak to a few other passer-byers. He’ll get his answers. He always does.
