Part of me loves that the hair is parted on the left side now, because that's how I used to draw my FemShep with all the time (I no longer have any of my stuff, but this commission comes close). It does look kinda... helmet-y, though. But eh!
... Wait, Callie had brown hair? Awh man, all the more reason why I need to do a do-over of that one picture I did for you a couple years ago.
I'm re-playing Callie in ME1 now and hoo-boy! does she have helmet hair. O.O I never really noticed it when I played before. The new stuff looks much, much softer compared to the old stuff. I like the poofy-ness of it. The Sixties. In Spaaace! :)
Yep! Brown hair! LOL The hair color I chose looks reddish in the first game (especially in the squad screen where it looks ginger), and it looks light brown in the second (but red in the squad screen). I think you might have had a bad reference pic? But that's ok. My head!canon says it looks red in certain sunlights anyway. XD (I'm just happy I got a pic of my Shepard in your awesome style.)
Thank you! Getting her to that point was a pain in the drain, and I almost forgot to write down the new code lol.
Ohhh... I think I know which hair you're talking about. Tobias (on the 360) has that reddish-brown-ginger hair color, but I'm going to make it actual red *if* I'm able to do so.
Honestly, I'm thankful BioWare is at least letting us use custom Shepards in the demo. If anything, so we can avoid getting nasty surprises when importing them into the game. (Philo's pinnochio nose was REALLY noticable in ME2 the first time around, that's all I'm saying)
That hair actually looks horrible on my FemShep, which makes me sad because she had the original default hair. Now she's got the pixie, which is a huge change to take in on top of the engine/general look changes.
EDIT THE THIRD BECAUSE I'M A DERP: I'm happy you've been able to largely work out the importing issues and that you're geting them to look closer to how you always imagined. Fun stuff! ♥
My Shep had the same gothic problem yours did, so when I was fiddling around with her code again on the demo, I darkened it a shade and it looks *much* more normal in the actual game. Observe:
...Do we have the same face for our Shepards? I tweaked the default face when I created Callie.
Fun fact: (Just tried this on the Normandy) If you go into ME1, right before you go to the Citadel for the first time, there are two people standing at the back of the sleeper pods. One is a definite red-head (Hi, Hendricks!). If you stand next to her, there's a definite difference in hair color if you've chosen the red-brown color for your Shep. It definitely looks brown when you stand by her (but not dark brown).

Maybe? I got mine from slider settings in ME1 that I found on a forum somewhere.
This is the code I picked up from the demo after I fixed her (though I can't remember if the skintone change is in this or not *facepalm*): 743.PFE.E1A.51A.CGD.26P.2K9.743.H26.4C5.6G5.475
Oh god, yes I think the new defualt Jane looks incredibly derpy. I'm just happy that the actually did seem to revamp the old default a bit. Whatever Preset 1 is - and no one can convince me it's not Plain Jane, not even once we all import - she looks so much better. It's like they fixed all of the problems there were with her face.
All of the proportions on the new defaults face just look whack, and it doesn't help that she has the dark lipstick and eyeshadow. I'm confused because it's neither "Hey there, Sexy Lady," nor "Tough as Nails Space Commander" with the makeup. But whatever, I won't be using her.

I may try different styles with Kitty since I'm not really liking how her eyes are. It was a drastic difference for me.
