One of the more surprising things about my
last post here was that some people weren't prepared for the level of Charles/Erik domesticity. So I thought I'd put it in context.
Or out of context, as the case may very well be.
Day 1
The place is more dilapidated than the brochures suggested, but neither of us mind. We spend the afternoon unpacking, and playing a friendly game of chess.
It becomes apparent in conversation that Erik hasn't heard of Jean's latest demise, and I'm forced to break the news.
Erik makes dinner, and we have a lovely meal by the sunset.
I wish I had thought to pack proper wineglasses, however.
Here is Erik looking at the statue his daughter made for us. She's a very talented young woman, and I appreciate the overture from Erik's family.
Erik even does the dishes. He's really very sweet.
Day 2
Erik already seems to have gotten into the habit of fixing our meals, and I'm hardly one to dissuade him.
We go scuba diving, but it doesn't end quite as we'd planned.
By which I mean that we find a drowned sentinel, of course. I convince Erik to help me save her.
Erik thinks I've picked out this moment because it shows how smitten I am with him, but in reality I've only included it because he looks very regal in his new outfit. One may read into that what one will.
Day 3
I spend much of the morning composing love letters, and Erik spends much of the morning laughing. These events are not necessarily related.
Later, we're kidnapped by trolls and what appears to be the evil Henry McCoy from another dimension. Luckily, we're rather experienced at this sort of thing, and manage to pass the time by flirting.
Erik tries on my last name. I think it suits him, although one of my students scribbled, In conclusion, cousins, on the back of the image. I've been slightly wary of asking what that might mean.
Once we've properly escaped, Erik manages to find some wineglasses, and I finally propose to him... my plan to rebuild the country. At least, I believe that's what happened.
Day 4
I go hiking up-country with Callisto, but Erik doesn't join us. I admit that I miss him.
Not quite so much as it seems he misses me, however. I shall have to remember this moment for later arguments.
