I guess I should cross my fingers now.

Himself was pushed back once again as the landlord wanted another coat of Kilz in Laurel's room and the hallway. He thankfully didn't make a stink about the cigarette burns and iron prints in the living room being more obvious after Himself cleaned the carpets, but he did acknowledge we didn't make them (former housemate Sergio did). He'll be ( Read more... )

I'll get you set up with some VUL. You can start off with about $100/month and after about a year, you can put as much or as little as you want into the policy. Plus, the separate account on the policy is invested in some very good mutual funds, which helps build the cash value of the policy and possibly even give a higher death benefit than what's stated on the policy. It's good shit. :D

Thanks. Himself isn't as concerned about insurance as I am, but it's become obvious that I'm the organizer/planner and he's the spontaneous one in the marriage.

One good thing about the Hurricane is whenever I see it on the news, I get the song "Isobel" in my head. If only they'd spelled the Hurricane Name differently to fit the song.

Of course, it'd be amusing to hear reports of a Bjork song destroying things up and down the eastern seaboard.

Anyway, though, I'm sure everything'll work out fine.

*snerk* That as a mental image is second for making me fall off my chair to some wedding-planning talk last night at my sister's... one of the things she'd like at her reception is a chocolate fountain. One of the bridesmaids (sister's best friend) once said that her ultimate fantasy is a bathtub full of white chocolate. Mom then made the connection that we shouldn't get a chocolate fountain with white chocolate or else said bridesmaid might jump in it, and since she's not a small girl... yeah. I will never lean back in one of Amy's dining chairs again or else I'll knock the rest of my brain loose.

We made enchiladas on Thursday night and instead of writing the date before the extra pan went into the freezer, they're labeled "Hurricane Isabel enchiladas".

Well, shit. I had a long post drafted and Explorer (not IE, but Explorer... windows, itself) crashed. GRRRR.

You and I have both been quite busy, haven't we? LOL

We (at work) go to first beta in 2 weeks, so my time is pretty limited.

Of course, this is also the time that I chose to start "Words" which, in retrospect, isn't the smartest move. But, then, I never said I was smart. LOL

Meanwhile, glad you're enjoying the pillow. I wonder how many pillows are exchanged as a result of conversations over the net. {grin} That's an odd thought, isn't it?

You've probably been busier than me! Now that Himself is actually out of the old house I'm actually just working on some illustration work (I use "work" because Cougar Pride wants to pay me since the poster I volunteered to do has turned into four handouts/posters and some forms) while waiting for him to get out here.

I love the pillow. If it wasn't for that I think I'd have gone nuts, although last night I had a giant teddy bear (no kidding, it's a huge bear Hayden gave Laurel for Christmas a few years ago) holding it up at head level because I've been sleeping semi-upright to deal with the cold-caused congestion.

Ah yes, Hurricane Gloria. I was telling my kids all about it earlier today. My sister and I spent most of that day riding our bikes up and down our street. My parents spent the day worrying their heads off, as we had just bought a new house, but had not yet moved in, nor had they yet transfered the homeowner's insurance. The first project at the new house was to be taking down the ancient Oak in the backyard. It stood 3 times taller than the house, and was infested with termites and bats. My mother must have called them hourly to see if the tree had fallen over. When we finally did take the tree down, we kept about 1/4 of the wood. Chopping it all took several summers, but supplied the house, which was a duplex, both sides having fireplaces, with wood for more than 17 years. My Mom sold it last January, and left behind about 1.5-2 cords of well aged oak firewood ( ... )

I was living in Blackstone at the time. Dad was on a reserve weekend at Westover so we taped "Hi Dad" and a smiley face into the tape criss-crossing the picture window in the living room. Our neighbor's teenaged son went skateboarding in the wind and I think we might have videotape it, though I have no idea where it would be now. Gloria brought down a couple of trees on the property (five acres) and part of one of the trees in the front yard... I have a picture of my sister, brother and I standing on the tree chunk and we kept a chunk of bark and wood from it.

I haven't heard from Robert since Thursday night (about 8PM Eastern), when he called to say he'd overslept and was heading out shortly. If he's making equivalent time to our previous cross-country drives, he's probably in Missouri as I type. As for I-40, our usual route is to take 70 up to the Beltline, then take I-40 from where it splits off to Winston-Salem, where we turn north.

I forgot, I have photoshop elements, and I think I might be able to convert (depending on how it's originally formatted) to PDF. If you want to give it a try, or run out of free conversions, attach it to an email, and send it my way.
