I hope DITY means he'll take care of his own junk.

It now looks like we'll be doing a full DITY move since he's been dragging his feet about dealing with TMO. This adds a whole new level of fun to the sorting I've been working on since Laurel and I would have left before the boxers arrived. We're still flying out on the 21st because the tickets are nonrefundable and it's his fault for dragging his ( Read more... )

I hate the process of moving. I feel for you, and would help if I weren't on the other side of the country!

I don't hate moving, I just hate the packing part. *wry grin*

Had he not dragged his feet about talking to TMO, we'd just be getting things not moving with us out of the house so the boxers could come in and box everything up for us. (When the military moves you, any boxes you pre-pack have to be left unsealed so they can check to make sure you're not packing any non-permitted items and that everything's packed securely.)

With the aid of a helpful book on decluttering and the will not to haul anything we don't want and/or need with us across the country again, I can handle it -- I just wish he'd help although I know video-gaming is his form of destressing from work and I'm apparently super-difficult lately since I'm even more hormonal than the past few months since the Pill is hopefully going to work for me.

Every time I think of that, it thrills me.

Since you've got experience with them, what advice would you offer on storage units? My folks have offered their garage, but I'd rather get a storage unit until we've settled into our own place since my little brother really wants to use the garage for his car crap (not insulting cars, just my brother's "performance" obsession inspired by street racing movies) and if it keeps him from revving his engine in the driveway it's a small price to pay. I like my parents' quiet neighborhood. (:

let's see...advice...most storage companies offer free first month or some other such discounts. many require you use your own locking device (i'd suggest the saucer type that are hard to cut with bolt cutters). try to get a downstairs unit that is easily accessible (some places have inside and outside facing units along a central corridor) and of course be sure you know the proper dimensions of your stuff...chances are you could probably get a smaller size space than you might think.

that's all I can think of right now. hope it's of some help
