A couple Laurel notes, lock pick stocking stuffer, and picking up waymarking, a geocaching spinoff.

When we picked up Laurel yesterday, we spotted a familiar pair of sunglasses sitting on the edge of the sandbox in the pre-k and kindergarten gated area. She'd left them there on Thursday, playing there while were waiting for Vogon to give us a ride home after her class party, and they were still there Monday with just a little light scratching. That is the second time I've heard 'twee' used today, what does it mean?

I use it to mean saccharine. Wikipedia says: "Twee", a baby-talk alteration of "sweet", is a British English term for something that is overly sweet or knowingly cute.

Their banners are wicked twee, indeed. But in a cool kind of way.

So can I be the first LJer to jump on the waymarking bandwagon!?

I will never admit that I'm going to buy one of those lock pick and carry it on me at all times. Nor will I admit that I've wanted one of those thingys since I first learned that locks exist. . .

Sure. I only became aware of it after someone posted to geocaching earlier this week that they heard locationless caches were being phased out [at geocaching.com] and wanted to know what was going on. If you ever want to go caching with me, let me know; there's a bunch of caches in the area that I keep planning to visit but haven't yet.

I bought a lock pick set a couple years ago, then bought a Kwick Pick and found it much easier to carry around, although I'm passable at picking a lock with either method. I've thought about going to trade school to become a locksmith, but a lot of locksmith businesses require employees to have a car and the whole driving thing still bedevils me. (It's of a mix of not being sure I can justify the cost, having a fear of turning against traffic and highway driving and well, mostly being neurotic. I'm working on it.)
