For once, my period started when I called it based on my body's signals. My evil stupid ovaries keep sending mixed signals, so this is a minor victory for me.

We plan to take Laurel out to see either The Incredibles or the IMAX version of The Polar Express this weekend

Oh, my cow--I love that Kids-in-Mind site. It never ceases to amaze me.

I hate mixed signals from my body. I get bathroom signals when I'm hungry sometimes. But maybe that's just my misinterpretation.

I like to have an idea of what to expect before taking Laurel to see a movie in the theater. We took her to see The Story of the Weeping Camel in the spring and she never got into it, even with us reading the subtitles to her, then fell asleep halfway through it.

I get mixed signals from my reproductive system because of ovarian cysts, which have apparently caused me to ovulate later so my nice regular postpartum cycle (before having Laurel, I'd go anywhere from a month to five months between periods) has been slowly lengthening. And my guess that my period arrived last week was wrong -- I spotted for three days, then stopped. I took a pregnancy test to rule that out, so now my guess is that my cycle is longer this time because I was sick with a kidney infection earlier in the month.
