Miscellaneous rambling: Auntie Flo, weekend movies, rearranging plants and random bubbles.

For once, my period started when I called it based on my body's signals. My evil stupid ovaries keep sending mixed signals, so this is a minor victory for me.

We plan to take Laurel out to see either The Incredibles or the IMAX version of The Polar Express this weekend.

I really need to do something about the current arrangement of the plants we brought in for the season. They make navigating the bedroom iffy at best and there's no saucer under the windowbox of garlic, so I can't water it without the fear it'll drip on something. Other than that they seem to be doing all right, with expected seasonal dropping leaves on the pepper and leaves on the limes starting to turn as well.

Today's moment of Zen: Laurel was sitting at her table by the living room patio doors when bubbles started floating by. Someone's outside at ground level blowing them -- I saw a glimpse of a kid in the bushes set away from the next building over (kids were playing in them over the summer) and the light wind is carrying them as high as the roofline before they come back down. Laurel is entranced.

Edit 1615: while skimming a very silly angry thread in the IMDb forums for The Polar Express, I found a reference to a movie ratings site, Kids-In-Mind, that rates movies for kids' appropriateness with rating numbers for sex/nudity, violence/gore and profanity. It's not as amusing at the religious sites that convinced me to see the South Park movie based on their disapproval (I was the only person over 18 in the theater that wasn't accompanying a kid anyway), but it is interesting and potentially useful for future moviegoing with the midget. Too bad she's scared by seemingly random things like the Grinch puppet in the Wubbulous World of Dr.Seuss, but not the animated or live-action versions.
