Laurel potty use update, some mail out, and the cat has accepted me.

Laurel's had a hit-or-miss week for using the potty -- she started out with an average of three or four sits and two successful uses a day and now won't sit except for after dirtying a pull-up. Next week will be better, especially with the standing offer of a half hour in the pool (hot tub for now, but pool more as it gets warmer) for two ( Read more... )

Potty training goes a LOT easier without pull-ups ... misszoe had her then-2 yr old pretty much completely potty trained, and then they went to Las Vegas and had her in pull-ups ("pretty much" doesn't mean completely), and they had to start completely over when they got back because she couldn't feel when she wet in the pull-ups.

That's about what Maylie's success rate is too... over a weekend being in diapers, she has about 4 sits and 2 successful uses (of course it does depend on the day too). During the week, since she wears training pants and has a potty at daycare too... they get about half and half... half hits and half misses. Then I generally have about 2 potty pees the rest of the time.

But since late last week she's brought the potty when she either wanted changed or wanted to use it (the wanting to use it part is new!) and today she brought me the potty once and responded to me saying "do you have to go pee pee?" with a pointing at the potty. So she's making progress! :-D

I'm getting that loud and clear now. *wry grin*

I need to see if the cloth training pants I have fit her; once she has those and some waterproof covers to start with, I plan to put her in cloth so she can tell when she's wet herself.

Since she has to be potty-trained to attend preschool and we're in a situation where we have both easy access to laundry facilities and little reason not to run loads as needed, it's as good a time as any to move to cloth.

Just be caareful with the Gerber training pants if you want to keep your floors dry... they don't really hold anything, but if you combine them with sweatpants that usually holds a pee in (rather than dripping on the floor). Which is why Maylie's usually in a diaper (at least a fitted without a cover) at home.
