Supernatural: Jensen Ackles in Death Takes a Holiday

Mar 13, 2009 07:57

As good as it is to have our show back, I'm just feeling...stumped.  At a loss for words.  Uninspired, perhaps.  I'm not really sure.  Hopefully, I'll feel better about Death Takes a Holiday after I chat with my flist about it and rewatch it this weekend.  But for right now, there is not anything about it that really stood out and shouted, "That's ( Read more... )

Ocean: Like you, I'm kind of "huh" about this episode. I've watched it twice this morning and nothing reached out and grabbed me either. Of course I loved the more humorous bits - Dean sticking his arm through Sam, Dean being all giddy over ghost powers. But this one didn't pack the emotional wallop I expected it to.

Having said that, my favorite Jensen moment was the look on his face when Castiel told him he isn't just a regular person. Sam had told him the same thing earlier, but when Castiel made the same remark, it seemed to take hold. Jensen played that scene well.

OH! I forgot to mention one thing - THE FRECKLES. They were on full display. I loved the scene where he told Sam not to treat him like he's stupid - his eyes were so big and green and his freckles just seemed to jump out. I wanted to reach out and touch. :)

AGH!!!! I didn't even NOTICE the freckles in that scene!! That is going to be at the top of "Scenes to Pay Special Attention To" priority list!!

I'm glad I'm not alone in my feelings about this episode. Since I didn't know anything about it, I probably wasn't expecting the same emotional wallop that you were, but yeah - nothing really "hit" me.

Anywho, that was a really good scene with Castiel (how awesome is it to have him back?!?!?!?!) - I'll pay close attention to it during my rewatch. :D

I liked the cemetery scene with the boys. Nice banter and they both looked pretty. Best line: "Joe the Plumber's a douche."

I liked the cemetery scene too. I really liked how Dean couldn't give the guy (who turned out to be Alastair) an explanation for what they were doing there.

I'm really surprised they can get away with saying douche. LOL!

Maybe we need a favorite Castiel moment? I, personally, loved his entrance. DANG!! I've missed my HWB.

Yeah, a Jensen moment isn't standing out for me, just the one when he was with Castiel, pleading for the town's soon-to-be-dead again. He was so tired. *smushes him*

When Castiel came on, I totally thought of you! His entrance was great and I really liked his scene with Dean.

He was so tired.

Poor Dean. *pets*

I need to rewatch it as well. I liked his scenes with Tessa & I am soooo glad that she let him remember IMTOD!!!

I also like the fact taht Dean is calling Sam out on the lying, but is still able to joke around with him, like when he stuck his hand in Spectral!Sam. *giggles*

Jen's freckles were glorious last night!!!!!!

I'm really glad that they brought Tessa back. Maybe that's my favorite scene: When he was talking to her about how he felt for the whole year after he encountered her...it broke my heart. We all thought he was hurting because of John's secret, but it was also due to his wishing he would have went with Tessa.

I love how this show is able to mix the angst with the comedy. Spectral!Sam *giggles*

I totally missed Jen's freckles. I'll be paying close attention to them during my rewatch. :D

As an unrepentant DeanGirl, I saw a lot of lovely, vulnerable, pain stricken moments throughout with Jensen. Some of the favorites had Dean saying nothing at all, but just listening to the pain, loss and misery of the mother and son. I LOVED his declaration to Tessa that he feels new purpose because someone upstairs thought him worthy enough, despite all the things, he himself admits were horrible, to be brought back, only to have Tessa shatter those illusions. It was a deeply sad episode with only kernels of laughs here and there and for that, the episode worked for me totally. More on my blog when I have time. Don't be surprised if I use these exact words in them.

Upon rewatch, I've grown to like the episode more. Jensen did a fantastic job, as always.
