Author Notes: Popping my HoneySyn fanfic writing cherry. Because it's about damn time. >8[ I love them gay boys a lot, though I'm sad it's wrapped up. This is somewhere mid-story, I guess. Before Metis and Josh actually start going out, and Charles and Jay are still something/whatever. THEM BOYS DESERVED A HAPPY ENDING. ;o; Oh well. I still love Nuu. And Schumie. <3

One Should Be Wary What One Says Around Charles

Metis wasn't really paying attention when he said it -- he was too busy living in his dream world of butterflies and rainbows and football-players-slash-math-geniuses, as per usual nowadays.

He was rambling about his maniacal history teacher and his intent to sabotage his grade point average (worse than it already had been by his own laziness) that he was surely not imagining when he added, offhandedly, "Oh, and your boyfriend believes he's only torturing me because he thinks I'm sucking up to Ms. Euclid, who he's apparently got the hots for. Can you believe that? I don't even take any of her classes!"

Metis was too busy -- explaining how that scenario had to be impossible while simultaneously accidentally convincing himself that it wasn't -- to notice Charles' reaction. He hadn't jerked visibly, so even if Metis had been paying attention, he may not have noticed it, but there was a slight rigidness in his shoulders and a widening of his eyes the second he heard it. It disappeared a moment later, but Charles was no longer paying attention to his friend's rant.

'Boyfriend?' his mind repeated contemplatively.

"Hm," he hummed aloud, his lip twitching ever so slightly. His mumble somehow managed to snap Metis out of whatever trance he'd been in while talking to himself.

"So... whaddya think?" Metis asked, turning to the blond as he readjusted the strap of his bag on his shoulder.

"You're an idiot," Charles replied, eyes locked on one of the lockers they passed by.

"That isn't helpful," Metis pouted.

"You didn't ask for helpful," Charles smirked.
