Been there. Done that. Bought that life sentence.

But worth it... I have noticed the rocks tend to rise to the surface at night, it takes a few years of constant work to get a plot up to snuff.

there's a reason they call it "The Rock'. Big old chunk of granite in the middle of the Atlantic - it's all rock all the way down.

Lookin good! Most of the ground here has to be broken up with a big crowbar before we can even think of using a shovel. Nice dark soil there! Should grow well!

the previous owners had horses and left a huge 40 ft x 40 ft by 20 ft deep well rotted manure pile - if we can dig the hole we're very lucky and have lovely soil to fill it in - the other advantage is all that sand and pebbles (once you get the rocks out) makes for very good drainage.
