Carnage .... and hope springs eternal
Been a busy week, we took a couple days to regroup and mostly we've been doing a lot of running around and back and forth - I've needed to get out and about, and we have had stuff to sort out. He's home
Much craziness the last couple days trying to finish everything before he got back, which I didn't - but the tomatoes got planted, the kitchen is largely cleaner, coconut cake got made (despite a couple failures at the icing - hint - never mix up your coconut extract and your coconut water), there was pulled pork, there was monkey bread for ( Read more... ) -
Week three
After all the work of week two, week three has been a bit slow - both getting some rest, and trying to catch up a few other things.
We finally got the desperately needed rain - and thus far
- 5 of the 9 raspberries are showing signs of life
- the blackberries - for whom I despaired are actually making their way

Two weeks down, two weeks to go...
Well two weeks of James' month long sojourn back to Australia has passed - a lot of work has gotten done, admittedly not nearly as much as I would have liked - or as fast as I'd like. But a lot of the immediate heavy lifting in the gardens is done. The second bed got finished on Wednesday and the strawberries all put in, along with some lovely baby ( Read more... ) -

Well all the grapes are in - alas any attempt to carry water up the hill was a failure - hoping for rain tonight. I also managed to run 3 of the 6 wires necessary this year - I'll leave the other 3 for James when he gets back ( Read more... ) -

A very good article picking the GAPING holes in the BBC's article on eating healthy for £1 a day. I've seen a lot of these articles over the years... and non of them hold water, they simply continue to perpetrate the myths of poverty shaming.
