I'd actually like to know more about the difference between Save As and Save for Web, but I guess I can play around with that and Google it and stuff. I usually go with the plain old Save As, and keep the quality right up on 12 (the maximum with saving in the usual way).
Bad compression bugs me a lot. If anyone in icon communities suggests they might be open to feedback, I leap in with it. Lately my suggestions have actually been received well :) I hold out hope that one day everyone will understand the evils of bad compression.
Thank you so much! This solves something that always bugs the heck out of me with my own simple icons. They always look icky. Now I know something basic and I can take care of that and play around with the other stuff.
