Okay, so I picked text only as you didn't have an option for both choices. I honestly think that some poetry quotes would work well as imaged icons while others would be far more captivating if they were simply text-only icons.
As you can see by my poetry suggestions, I'm very much into the Romantic period. Although I did forget to include Chaucer and Whitman in with Lord Byron as well... Shakespeare is kind of a given as his poetry was... well, epic in a manner of speaking. I really like Maya Anjelou and Shel Silverstein as well. Also e.e. cummings, while making my eye twitch with the lack of punctuation, is still an amazing poet.
Edgar Allan Poe's poems are awesome as are Lewis Carrol's and J.R. Tolkien's as well.
I don't know if you'd find it inspirational, but I also have a bunch of poetry that you could use if you found any that took your fancy. Granted, you'd have to join the comm to read them as I like to keep track of who's seeing it, etc., but if you want to check it out and decide you'd like to use some of it, feel free.
