doctor who question

My friend is Doctor Who resistant. She's seen bits here and there (both old and new) and has firmly gotten it into her head that she doesn't like it, and she thinks pictures of David Tennant are ugly, and is just generally not keen on watching the show even though I think she'll like it. Bits of it, anyway.

I finally convinced her to watch Blink, ( Read more... )

What about the Silence in the Library duo from S4? I love those.

She might complain it's too derivative of The Time Traveller's Wife. Which it kinda is, I have to admit.

Only the Doctor/River parts, though. Most of the episodes aren't about that at all.

Does she watch Merlin? If she does, she might like Midnight (because Colin Morgan is in it). But even if she's not into Merlin, I still think that episode was a pretty good one.

Nope, not a Merlin fan, but you're right that it's good and standalone. :D

I'm rather fond of "The Unicorn and the Wasp" to start people off. It's fun, has some lovely guest stars, and is all about Agatha Christie, which, what's not to love? I think "Midnight" is pretty strong as well; the episode TERRIFIED me the first time I saw it, augh.

I was gonna suggest forest of the dead/silence in the library.

I find Impossible planet/Satan's Pit to be a great combo too, but there might be too much doctor/rose in here.

I loved the Impossible Planet/Satan's Pit combo, but you're right it's a little shippy. I have to think about it.

Depending on how much you need the episode to be serious/scary versus light-hearted, my favorite of the series is the season 4 opener. So much good stuff in there, and it just might hook her in to watch more stuff that's not standalone.

Voyage of the Doomed? Or I'm assuming you're talking about Partners in Crime, because of your icon. :D It was fun.
