My friend is Doctor Who resistant. She's seen bits here and there (both old and new) and has firmly gotten it into her head that she doesn't like it, and she thinks pictures of David Tennant are ugly, and is just generally not keen on watching the show even though I think she'll like it. Bits of it, anyway.
I finally convinced her to watch Blink, which I thought was a good way to cull her prejudice because it is standalone and not Doctor-centric and of course a fantastic episode all around.
She really enjoyed the episode, acknowledges that David Tennant looks better onscreen than in pictures, and now is more open to watching more DW. But I sense some residual prejudice and think we'll lose her if I try to get her to watch Rose at this point and start the series in chronological order.
The next episode that she sees, therefore, needs to be another really good, not-too-arc-y, not too the-doctor-is-a-bastard hook. Any suggestions? Doesn't have to be Ten if you think a Nine episode fits the bill better.
