Sorry, I let LJ get away from me for a while there! First I was avoiding Lost spoilers, then FlashForward spoilers, then I was sad about both shows ending and didn't feel like being online. And then I was doing Important Craft Stuff (which I will post in another entry). So, here is an update in the guise of a picspam.

Me, Merlin, geocaching, haunted farms, haunted halls, tree carvings... )

picspam, ruins, historic places, photos of me, geocaching, my dog merlin, foxes, ghosts, mp3s, derbyshire, paranormal, folk

Totally awesome photos of the ghosty places.

Congrats on your rosette! YAY!

And, YAY, for your skin! You have gorgeous skin! So post away. Be vane. It's really ok.

Thank you! I was worried I might bore people, but I just love ghostly places! Thanks about the rosette too, it meant such a lot! And believe me, my skin is much better than it was, but that photo is deceptive ;-).

Just seen your posts on twitter! It's so cold and rainy here today, I wish we could compromise!

I was just reading about geocaching the other day! That's the business with the geocoins, right?

Yes it is! Oh, it's so much fun! I haven't found a geocoin yet, but I've gained a painted domino and a little wind-up toy bird! :D

That's really shiny! So what happens, do you take a small object and leave a small object in return?

That's it exactly! It's so exciting. It must be brilliant for people with young children. Mostly it's just small trinkets but they're so precious because you've found them, y'know? Sometimes in a new cache people will leave a real treasure like a Roman coin! I'm thinking of treasures to put in my own cache at the moment!

I will never not be in awe of your fringe.

Also, HELLO!! Sounds like you've been having a fun few months :)

Do you mind me asking what the 'last resort' treatment was? Was it Roaccutane? I have exactly the same woes, and am so sick of my GP saying 'well, let's try this other useless pill that'll do about as much good as rubbing an old sock over your face'. Really glad to see compelling evidence that a difference can be made!

And Merlin never fails to be the cutest ♥

Hello! :D Aww, thank you! I think my fringe behaves itself because I cut it myself, so I frequently threaten it with scissors! ;-)

Of course I don't mind! Yes, it was Roaccutane or Isotretinion as mine was called. I know exactly what you mean, I'd had every cream, every antibiotic, nothing helped at all and the doctors didn't seem to realise what an effect it was having on me :(. Then I happened to see a different GP at the practise and she said "oh, we can't have this, I'm referring you to a dermatologist." BINGO!

It wasn't totally pleasant, but it was worth it! My lips dried horribly and I ended up with a massive flare of eczema everywhere (which has remained). I also had to go for a blood test every month to check I wasn't pregnant. My advice? Tell them you're either a nun or a lesbian. BUT my skin improved within WEEKS and my scalp was so free from oil that I could go without washing my hair for well over a week! XD

Keep on at the doctor! Have you tried asking for a referral to see a dermatologist? That was going to be my next

Ach, you are THE most understanding person ever!! Why are you not my GP!?!?

I always feel so petty going to the doctor about my skin, but to be honest, it is a disease in a way, especially when it's having a psychological effect on me.

I have heard nasty things about Roaccutane. But I am willing to brave all that, and there is no chance of falling pregnant :) In fact, they put me on the Pill for a while to see if that worked (it didn't) and when I was picking up my prescription, they asked 'this is for contraceptive purposes, yes?' and I, like the fool I am, said 'no, it's for my skin'. Apparently, you have to PAY if it's not for contraception. Basically, I had to pay for all the sex I'm not having because my skin is too shitty to attract les hommes. FML.

OMG overshare. Apologies. Only appropriate response: cool story, bro.

Thank you for your advice, my love! I will stand my ground at my next appointment!

Hello, person I don't know! I am not a GP yet, but I am going to be one - I'm doing my final year at med school now. If you need advice on such things, feel free to drop me a PM, I'll gladly look things up for you if I don't know the answers. And, don't feel petty - if it wasn't an important issue, there wouldn't be dermatologists! Do stand your ground, and ask for a referral - it would be very hard for them to justify refusing. Let me know if you need help or advice :-) x

Thank you so much! That photo of Merlin was taken in my room! :D The wood is actually my wardrobe, but I love the idea of panelling! I can see Merlin in a bow-tie ala Eleven!

The carvings are beautiful, aren't they? I think they're quite modern, they're all over the wood. Hold on, let me google. Unless it was something like this I can't find anything :(

Oh, you're right! Definitely Thornfield, you're completely right! My own village always reminds me of a Brontë novel, not a specific one, just one in general! Although there's a group of identical graves in the churchyard that makes me think of the Heathcliff/Cathy/Edgar scenario!

I still have the little square of red cloth to make the neckerchief! He's just growing out of his current collar, when I buy him a new one I will sew it! I'm very excited! :D

Ahh, honestly I don't deserve any congratulations, I was so very mardy (wow, so that's not even a word! My spellcheck flagged it up! Do you say it over there? I just looked it up online and it's apparently a Northern word!) every week on the way home in the car! I will pass your best wishes onto the hairy little gentleman though! Thank you!

Oh my goodness, why are you not a writer on Doctor Who? That would be the most amazing episode in history! I just had to read it aloud to my Mum! Wow! I'm imagining it in my head, just amazing.

Well, I'm on the edge of Yorkshire, so I could fib to you and tell you I live in Brontë Country! But I live on the border of South Yorkshire and I think Haworth is in North Yorkshire. I looked on a map (<-- I have no idea if that link will work!). But we do have plenty of moors around us, especially in the Peak District! We walked ( ... )

Ahh, thank you so much! But honestly, don't be proud, I was extremely childish and silly in the run up to actually getting it!
