Merlin Episode Review - 306: The Changeling

Oct 17, 2010 00:59

Clumsy princesses with epic horse-riding skill, forced marriages, tossed up romances, and badly, horribly hidden innuendo. This show is for either incredibly young children or incredibly immature adults, and I'm not really sure which one. :)

Violence and romance and sex, er, magic fights, oh my! )

I have only got one problem with this season because apart from it this season is so much better than season 2! And that is how Morgana is now suddenly all evil. I get it if she wants to kill Uther, the man is a menace to all people with magic and I could understand if she is holding a grudge against Merlin.

What I cannot understand is why she wants Arthur dead now and why her former friendship with Gwen seems to have not mattered at all. I get the plot to get rid of Uther but she once actually loved (brotherly) Arthur and she was definitly a friend to Gwen. I have a hard time wraping my head around accepting the fact that this is gone too.

And since when does she want to rule Camelot? Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see... :)

Completely agree with this. I have a strong suspicion that next weeks eppy is gonna make me very angry!

I don't think it's that she wants to kill Arthur so much as she just doesn't care anymore...and now, if Arthur dies, she can sit on the throne. Gwen is a means to an end for that goal, and Merlin is an obstacle.

Ah but from the Trailer for next week's eppy, it looks like she's actively involved and is enjoying the idea of getting rid of him.

*sigh*

I miss good Morgana. The one who actually gave a damn about good people!

I think A/M destiny talk complete make this episode to another level. When everyone is bounded to the duty/kingdom thing, Merlin shows his WISDOM again. And it is Merlin's WISDOM and SUPPORT that restore the faith and courage in Arthur. That's really EPIC.
I just need to say, Merlin is sometimes really TOO PERFECT in this show. Especially he is so perfect for Arthur, protecting the prince physically and emotionally.

Gary Stu!Merlin? :P

He has his flaws - the thing is that for Merlin, his flaws aren't ever the centerpoints for the plot, but rather the consequences of his flaws.

Amen^^ You are so right. Merlin has a heart of gold. But he made some terrible decisions already and I bet there are more to come. Nevertheless I love him. :D Not as much as Arthur *drools* but he's second in the row.^^

I just hope for more 'dark' episodes this season. Episodes like The Changeling are just a bit too silly for my taste.
