Eunhyuk threw the pictures carelessly onto the floor, stepping over them as he drank down another shot. He fell on the floor and lifted one of the pictures up with his hand, he scoffed as he ripped it in half. He didn't want to be reminded of their past as he continued to rip up each photo.

How much of those photos were complete lies he wondered. Those moments of happiness were now overshadowed by the daunting feeling of betrayal. He smiled bitterly as he downed another drink that seared his throat.

His phone rang from the side, but he didn't bother to get up. Instead he let it ring continuously through the night, unable to truly hear anything.

-

He laid down on the snow-covered ground as he looked up at the sky, it was freezing yet cooling to his aching body. The hangover was unpleasant but he found the calm weather  helped his nerves slightly. He closed his eyes and felt the bit of sunlight when through his closed eyelids, did he see the orange disappear. He opened them and was surprised to look into a pair of dark eyes.

"Finally found you."

Eunhyuk widened his eyes as he got up, the man was behind him sitting on his knees as he waited for Eunhyuk to turn around.

"Donghae?" He asked incredulously. "What are you doing here?"

"If you answered your phone like you were suppose to, you would've known." Donghae replied simply, he lightly punched Eunhyuk on the cheek. "You made me worry."

Eunhyuk gave a forced smile as he held his fist. "I'm sorry." Gradually letting go of his hand as Donghae pulled away.

"You better be." He then shivered, Eunhyuk noted this and got up, he held out his hand to Donghae who glanced at him before taking his hand.

"Weren't you abroad? Why did you come?" Eunhyuk asked as he pulled him up.

"I came at the spur of the moment." Donghae explained as he withdrew his hand and brushed the snow from his knees. "I... I heard about what happened between you and- well...It would be cruel of me not to come at your time of need." He shifted his eyes as he followed Eunhyuk's footsteps. "After all, what are best friends for?"

Eunhyuk smiled slightly at his statement. "For times like these I suppose." They walked in silence as they reached his apartment, Donghae shivered as Eunhyuk turned the knob and welcomed him in.

Donghae shivered again slightly as he adjusted the heater without Eunhyuk's permission, Eunhyuk walked towards him with a drink in his hand. "Thanks." He murmured as he sipped his warm drink. "You still drink hot chocolate?"

"Rarely." He replied lowly, walking back to his kitchen.

"Either way, I'm glad you have it." He said brightly as he took another sip, Eunhyuk kept his back turned away as he smirked. The sole reason he had it in the first place was for Donghae, but he decided not to mention that fact.

Donghae sat on the couch and noted the many destroyed photos on the floor. "You and your boyfriend I presume?"

"Ex-boyfriend." Eunhyuk corrected dejectedly.

"Mmm." Donghae said thoughtfully as placed his drink in the table in front of him. "Why did you tear them up?"

"Why would I want to be reminded of those painful memories?" Eunhyuk reached for a soda from his fridge.

Donghae shrugged as he lifted up two pieces of a torn photo. "Because you loved him didn't you?" He asked softly.

Eunhyuk looked down at the ground as he pulled the tab of his soda can. "No..." He took a long gulp, he wiped his lips with the back of his hand as he continued. "But I was close to."

Donghae laid the photo back on the floor as he reached for his drink. "I see."

Eunhyuk laid his unfinished drink on the counter as he walked back to his fridge, he needed something stronger. He reached for a beer can and pulled the tab, about to drink it when it was pulled out of his hands. He met Donghae's stern eyes.

"Not while I'm here."

"How long will that be?" Donghae narrowed his eyes.

"For however long I want it to be." He stated as he walked away and returned to his spot on the couch. Eunhyuk sighed, he was closed to falling for his now ex-boyfriend but he knew it was futile.

He was still in love with Donghae.

--

Later that night, Eunhyuk laid in his bed, he was tired but unable to go to sleep when his door opened. He barely glanced as Donghae plopped down beside him. "Is something wrong with your bed?"

"Yes, a pull-out couch should never be considered a bed, it hurts your back." He leaned his head on his pillow. "That and its freezing out there."

"I thought you liked the cold?" Eunhyuk asked.

"I do, but I think I attract it a little too well." He laid his hand on Eunhyuk's neck who flinched away. "See, its nearly frozen." He buried himself under the comforters and popped his head out from beneath, Eunhyuk flinched slightly as Donghae snuggled against him. "Why are you always so warm?"

"Why are you always so cold?" Donghae shrugged as he leaned his head against his shoulder. "You should really return to your bed."

"Why? Uncomfortable?" Donghae asked as he closed his eyes. "We used to do this all the time."

"Back then though." Eunhyuk murmured.

Donghae took a deep breath. "What's changed?" Before Eunhyuk could answer he heard Donghae's breathing and knew he was sleeping. He looked up at the ceiling once again as he sighed to himself.

His plan was completely ruined now.

He didn't want Donghae to return. Not that he hated him, if anything he hated the fact that despite his once progressing relationship, he realized his feelings had never disappeared.

He was supposed to fall for his ex, he was everything he wanted and it was perfect. But when he cheated on him, Eunhyuk not only realized how devastated he was, but it shocked him that it was for a completely different reason. He knew then that he was never truly in love with the man. He found that he didn't care about his betrayal, just upset that his only chance of moving on was now gone.

He looked from the corner of his eye at Donghae's sleeping expression and tried to ignore his beating heart. Afraid that the sound of it would awake Donghae and make him realize just what he had been struggling to hide for years.

He couldn't believe he had fallen for his best friend, out of all people he had to fall for him. He wanted desperately to fall for someone else that he'd give anything for it to happen. And when his then boyfriend came along, he was happy to see his heart beating for someone else. But it was a lie.

His heart could never stop beating for the man beside him.

Donghae shifted away slightly, Eunhyuk rose up slightly and leaned on his elbow, his eyes tracing his features. He leaned in further and gave him a soft kiss on the lips, when Donghae shifted again. Eunhyuk quickly returned to his original position.

Donghae stretched slightly but quickly resumed his sleep, Eunhyuk was sure his heart would burst at any moment.

---

Eunhyuk yawned as he walked out of his bedroom and down the short hallway. Donghae was sitting on the couch, flipping through a box that held all his photos.

He laughed. "I remember this one," Eunhyuk sat down beside him and peered over his shoulder. "We were going on a trip to Incheon, but we took the wrong train and ended up in Gwangju."

"Wasn't even close." Eunhyuk shook his head while Donghae smiled.

"But we had fun, even though we were in the wrong place." He said nostalgically.

"You're horrible with a camera though." Eunhyuk commented as he looked at the pictures, each taken at odd angles.

"These pictures aren't going to win you competitions, but I like them." Donghae said as he held each one up. Eunhyuk rubbed his eyes and yawned again, leaning against his shoulder. "Why are you so tired?"

"Couldn't sleep." He answered simply. Donghae narrowed his eyes and suddenly got up causing Eunhyuk to fall against the couch.

"Either way, we're going out." Eunhyuk turned away, Donghae pulled him up and forced him into his room.

They finally left the apartment despite Eunhyuk's protest and complaints. Donghae ignored them and dragged Eunhyuk across the park with him, with no particular place he wanted to go to, they just walked around when Donghae hurried over to a small bridge. He breathed out and smiled at his visible breath as he waited for Eunhyuk to catch up. He glanced at the water below and looked on excitedly.

"The goldfish are still alive surprisingly in this weather."

Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow as he leaned over the bridge. "Those aren't goldfish, look they're all black-"

"For your information, goldfish come in different colors so that answer is invalid." He tilted his head. "Then again, maybe they really aren't goldfish." He sighed as he turned away and leaned against the rail.

Eunhyuk noticed his hands. "You aren't wearing any gloves." Donghae looked down at his own hands.

He smiled. "I sort of lost them..." He placed them back in his pockets. "Ah." He said in realization, he took out a cell phone and clicked on the side button. He pulled Eunhyuk against him and heard the click. He pushed him away and pursed his lips as he showed it to Eunhyuk. "You need to smile, this picture looks gloomy."

"I'm not exactly in the smiling mood." Eunhyuk commented as he loosely crossed his arms. Donghae bit his lip.

"Sorry, I'm not too good at this consoling thing." He glanced around. "Aren't you hungry? Let's go eat." He walked ahead without waiting for Eunhyuk's answer, Eunhyuk sighed as he took a last look at the cold water beneath.

Eunhyuk sat in the bench, waiting as Donghae sat beside him with a plastic bag. He pulled out a box and handed it to Eunhyuk.

"...A juice box? Really?"

"I will not encourage your alcoholic tendencies." He stated as he pushed his straw into his own juice box.

"That isn't fair."

"Says the one who forgot their wallet." Donghae sipped from his straw as Eunhyuk reluctantly did the same. Donghae started sifting through his pocket and pulled out a digital camera.

"I expect a smile this time." He warned as he leaned towards Eunhyuk and waited. Eunhyuk sighed and leaned his cheek against his, giving a small smile as they readied for the picture when Donghae suddenly kissed him on the cheek right as the camera flashed. Eunhyuk widened his eyes at him as Donghae looked back at the camera's screen in his hand.

"Not bad." He smiled as he showed it to Eunhyuk who glanced at it then turned away. His smile faltered. "Are you mad at me?"

"You really shouldn't that so randomly." Eunhyuk muttered, Donghae lightly shoved him.

"I wasn't doing it randomly, but fine." He scrolled through the pictures when he started to hiccup. Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow and looked at Donghae who purposely looked away. He tried to pat his chest but even then his hiccups didn't stop. Eunhyuk started laughing as Donghae threw a glare at him. "It's not funn-" He hiccuped again, Eunhyuk didn't stop. Donghae punched him on the shoulder.

Eunhyuk immediately stopped and narrowed his eyes.

"That's what you-" He hiccuped, "Get." He tried to drink his juice and soon enough the hiccups calmed down. Eunhyuk finished his juice when Donghae abruptly got up and threw his juice box into the trash. "I need to confess something."

Eunhyuk looked up but Donghae started walking away. Confused, he got up and threw his juice box away, and followed him until they reached the park's bridge. Donghae leaned slightly against the rail where he crossed his arms, Eunhyuk stood behind him and waited.

"I'm a horrible person." Donghae suddenly stated.

"Why?" He doubted that, Donghae was easily one of the best people he's known in his life.

"Because I was happy when he did that to you..." Eunhyuk froze, Donghae focused on the water beneath and dared not to meet his eyes. "Not that he cheated on you." He added with a slight chuckle. "But that you two were over."

Eunhyuk remained speechless as Donghae continued. "I never liked it when you sent those photos either, proof that you two were so happy and strong. When I came to that apartment to see you, I was elated to see the photos destroyed, at least I wouldn't have to do it a second time."

"A second time?" Eunhyuk asked slowly.

"...It seems my jealousy isn't the peace-loving kind." He explained as he blew the hair out of his eyes.

Eunhyuk furrowed his eyebrows. "How long?" He asked, Donghae lowered his head onto his arms.

"Since college." He breathed out.

Eunhyuk widened his eyes. "...I don't know what to think." He said quietly. "I never once...not even a hint."

"I'm that good of a liar?" He laughed lightly. "I thought I would be figured out when I visited you guys, but once I saw you together I couldn't take it how you smiled like that to him. When you only smiled like that for me... I only want you to smile like that for me."

Eunhyuk didn't say anything as Donghae suddenly flung his arms. "Finally! I feel better saying it now." He turned around with a smile on his face. "I hope this doesn't change our relationship with each other."

Eunhyuk placed his hands in his pockets. "This changes everything." He stated, Donghae widened his eyes.

"B-but that isn't fair." He said as he stood in front of him.

"Says the one who didn't tell me after all these years."

"I couldn't help it, I wasn't sure!"

Eunhyuk glanced at him. "How do we make sure?" This was all honestly more than what he hoped for, but he also knew how Donghae was.

Donghae blinked. "What?"

"How do we make sure that what you're feeling is actually what you're feeling."

"...I'm pretty sure I know how to read my own feelings." Donghae defended, but he looked down shyly. "But how do we check?" Suddenly it felt that instead of full-grown adults, they were back to their naive and adolescent selves.

"A kiss?" Eunhyuk suddenly suggested, Donghae's cheeks reddened. "You're embarrassed? You're the one who kissed me on the cheek earlier!"

"On the cheek! Not on the-"

Eunhyuk kissed him quickly on the lips. He waited and looked at Donghae's blank expression, he then felt his own cheeks reddened. "I'm guessing that's a no." Eunhyuk said lowly as he turned away.

"Can..." Eunhyuk looked back at Donghae's shy face. "Can we check again?"

Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow, but he did exactly that. "There."

Donghae smiled. "We should double-check." Eunhyuk chuckled as he did it again. Donghae's smiled widened. "Again? There's no harm in making sure-" Eunhyuk pulled him in and kissed him fully on the lips. This time when he pulled away, Donghae had a triumphant smile on his face.

"Are you sure now?" Eunhyuk asked, Donghae nodded.

"I'm sure." He stated. "This is why you should never doubt me." Eunhyuk shook his head as he looked down, then he paused.

"Aish, you need to buy gloves." He scolded as he grabbed his nearly frozen hands, Donghae's smile didn't falter.

"And what are you going to do about it?"

"Let's see, as your best friend, I obviously let your hands freeze and laugh when you get sick later." He gave a slanted look. "As your boyfriend...I'd still do the same." Donghae dropped his smile and narrowed his eyes.

"Then what does this change?" He asked exasperatedly.

"Boyfriends do have the privilege of sleeping in the same bedroom." Eunhyuk answered.

"But we did that before too!"

"Yes, but this time I won't force you out... Maybe." Donghae lowered his eyes.

"...Fine." He pouted.

Eunhyuk smiled as he kissed him again. "There's also plenty of that."

Donghae's smile returned when he suddenly dug into his pocket, he pulled out the camera. He leaned his cheek against Eunhyuk and smiled. When it flashed he looked at the camera screen. "I think we could start a whole new album." He commented.

"I'm sure." Eunhyuk said as he looked over his shoulder.

"Except this time you're not allowed to tear up the photos." Eunhyuk looked away. "Don't even dare."

"Fine, fine." Donghae put away his camera and kept his hand in his pocket to stay warm. He was about to do the same with his other hand when Eunhyuk reached for it.

"Another privilege." He simply stated as he started walking, slightly pulling Donghae when he didn't move. Donghae chuckled and playfully moved their hands, smiling at the thought of a new box of photos awaiting them.
