// Vines //
It started out as an ordinary day. Fingers grappling onto the metal bar overhead, tugging metal-like vines that outlined the entire cart, becoming the only thing connecting the two strangers who held on as the train rumbled on.

Eunhyuk eyed the man standing a few steps away, holding onto the railing as the train toured through the sun lit city.

Junsu was rather entranced by the book in his left hand, but was partly distracted by the figure eying him all the while. He’s sure that he doesn’t recognize the fellow passenger.

“Do we know one another?” Junsu asks. Eunhyuk is taken aback and looks around to make sure he’s speaking to him.

“No.”

The stranger seems disappointed by that answer, Junsu realizes.

“Then is there something wrong with how I dress? How I look?”

Eunhyuk is struggling not to say ‘of course not.’ But those words would come out weird in this instance and he just turns away and states, "I’m not looking at you."

Junsu returns a look, waiting, but when Eunhyuk says nothing, he continues on reading.

"A casual person can ask someone their name, right?"

Junsu smiles.

"Under other circumstances, maybe. Since it’s you, I doubt it’ll be casual." He can see Eunhyuk simmer in the background.

Desperate? Junsu doesn’t think so.

"Junsu." He gives, Eunhyuk mouths it repeatedly as if to test it out. “Like the way it sounds?” He teases.

Eunhyuk stops his mouth and closes it, embarrassed. “It’s a common name."

There’s a jerk in the train, and Eunhyuk inadvertently steps closer, grabbing ahold of the metallic vines above.

Junsu tucks in his book to his bag. “Done reading?” Eunhyuk asks.

“No, but I didn’t think you were going to let me have a chance to.”

Eunhyuk pursed his lips, “You don’t make this easy.”

Junsu chuckled, hearing him. He glances at the name written on the stranger’s lanyard that hung off his jean pocket.

“It’s not like I’m interested either,” Eunhyuk insists. “I’m just curious. Is it so wrong to attempt a nice conversation every once in a while?”

Junsu holds on to the railing as the train bumps slightly, his smile doesn’t waver. “I guess not.”

It’s too clear that Eunhyuk wants to ask him more questions, Junsu waits but maybe his words intimidates him just a bit.

“My boyfriend will be interested in knowing who’s showing interest in me.” Junsu poses.

Eunhyuk freezes, “You’re with someone?”

“Not at all.”

Eunhyuk is briefly confused, relieved, all jumbled at once when he realizes he’s been had, tricked by this fellow who smirks proudly. An extra bump causes the distracted man to accidentally let go and grabs the nearest bar.

The vines are as close as can be, with the two passengers separated by just a step with their gazes locked, nudging them closer to an unseen path. Junsu’s lips shift upwards when their moment was interrupted by the intercom above.

Still, it doesn’t feel like a goodbye.

“If you’re not that interested, then you’re not the type to follow someone you like at a stop that’s not even yours.” Junsu says as he’s preparing for his stop and adjusts the strap of backpack. “Right?”

“You’re...right.”

The teasing stranger lets go, breaking the connection as he steps off the train. He glances back to see Eunhyuk looking away, loosening his grip and acting as if their exchange meant nothing.

Junsu was slightly disappointed, wishing this pursuer was just a bit more persistent.

Just as the train leaves, he hears a slight scuffle and turned to see Eunhyuk just getting up from tripping last minute.

“So what if I wanted to pretend?” Eunhyuk tried to argue, brushing the dirt off his pants. Junsu laughed, pleasantly surprised.

The chances of them seeing each other again were quite high considering their common routes, but Eunhyuk couldn’t take such a chance.

“By the way, this is my stop.” Eunhyuk says to spare himself some pride, Junsu clearly doesn’t give him even a bit.

“I’m so sure.”

It still was an ordinary day, but the typical routine of them both was encouraging something between them, sprouting something new.
