-

Jungmo narrowed his eyes, cutting the plump fruits into slices, a job normally given to the lower people, but he had to take out his anger on something.

"Jungmo," Kangin attempted to reason. "We have to cater to him if you want to keep your job, all of ours jobs."

"Why do we have to? So we get no stars and a single bad review, our customers know better." There was a particularly loud bang as the knife met the counter.

"It doesn't matter." Kangin sighed, glancing out at the food critic who remained seated in the best part of the empty restaurant.

"Let's just throw him out." Jungmo suggested with a sinister smile, the staff watched warily between the head chef and the manager.

"That raise you wanted? Consider it done if you do this."

Jungmo narrowed his eyes, and grudgingly obliged. He nearly threw his hat on the floor as he walked through the double doors, past the secluded restaurant, only opened to cater to the critic's hours. He sighed as he appeared before him.

"You asked to speak to me?"

The man beside him remained quiet as he drank his wine. The food critic beside him looked up, and slowly, inch by inch, an odd smile crept to his lips. A short silence ensued after, the chef grew impatient.

"Anything else you'd like, sir." Jungmo added through gritted teeth.

Kyuhyun blinked, gesturing to the empty chair beside him. "Join me."

"Excuse me?"

"Join, or else I'll rate you two stars." Kyuhyun threatened lightheartedly, the chef visibly tensed and thinned his lips. When the chef didn't, Kyuhyun then said. "Agree or you get one star."

"This isn't how it's supposed to work." Jungmo countered.

"But it's how I work best." Kyuhyun reasoned.

Jungmo crossed his arms, growing more and more agitated the longer he stood here, entertaining the guest he wanted to throw out. "Do you usually enjoy blackmailing your chefs?"

"No, I do enjoy my supreme power and amazing palate. But it's a first where I could gain other things other than a decent meal every once in a while."

"Then was this meal at least decent?"

"...What do you think?" Kyuhyun asked his friend, the man ignored him. He then looked up at Jungmo, "If you feed me, I might reconsider." He smirked mischievously.

Kangin flinched the moment the wine spilled on the carpet, cringing as Jungmo strolled through the doors.

"Call me when an actual human being comes through."

-

"He insists it wasn't made right." The waiter informed, Jungmo nearly threw his pan full of still hot oil in the far corner.

"Did he care to elaborate this time?"

"Yes, he said it wasn't made with love."

Jungmo lowered his eyes, the waiter stepped back slowly as the chef fumed on the spot. He glanced at his sous-chef, "Take care of things."

He hurried out through the busy restaurant, passing by waiters and the likes when he reached the man sitting in one of the seats. The same man beside him, looking just as annoyed. "If you made your decision about my restaurant, then just send it in already."

"But I'm still unsure of how to rate you. And your present behavior at the moment, that's just terrible etiquette really." Kyuhyun then held up the small plate of ripen fruit. "This will be less messier to feed me with."

"Three weeks and still nothing? How incompetent." Jungmo drawled, ignoring his latter comment with arms crossed over his uniform. "Just write what you want and leave us be."

"Do you truly trust my judgment?"

"I barely trust you, what makes you think I trust that?" Jungmo countered, he sighed. Deciding he was done playing games. "What does it take to get rid of you?"

Kyuhyun arched an eyebrow. "So quickly?"

"You're wasting valuable space that could be used for a remotely decent person."

The friend snickered. Kyuhyun narrowed his eyes at the friend but resumed a sweeter smile, perked by an idea. "Come to my apartment and cook me one dinner then."

Jungmo clutched his fist. "I'm good." Kyuhyun scoffed.

"Maybe you are, but I'm definitely not."

Jungmo resisted from spilling the expensive wine bottle on the critic and turned around, seeing his manager wave for him to continue on and he cursed mentally. He turned back around and forced himself to sit in the chair beside him.

"I already cook all of your meals to your specifications, that's as close as I ever want us to be." He warned lowly. The critic seemed unfazed.

"One date, and I'll rate you fairly."

Jungmo narrowed his eyes, clearly, the man took nothing he said into effect.

"One decent date, which might equal few stars." He noted the chef's reluctance. "Are you not that confident about your skills as a cook? Or assume that I have horrible taste? Because considering I have an interest in you, I consider myself to have great taste."

"..."

"The longer you prolong it, the worst the torture will be." His friend commented, the table visibly shook as the friend winced.

"One date?" Jungmo asked, Kyuhyun quickly resumed his attention on him. "Just one, nothing more?"

"Well, that could obliviously change once you fall for my charm." Kyuhyun said, a glint in his playful gaze.

Jungmo contemplated the idea, taking a long moment as Kyuhyun drank his wine before sighing dejectedly. "One." He uttered.

Kyuhyun flashed a wide, triumphant smile the moment Jungmo left the table and hurried to the back of the kitchen.

"How was it?" His managed hurriedly asked.

Jungmo stood silent for a bit before replying. "I think I have a date this Friday." Kangin blinked as Jungmo returned to his work, uncaring of what had happened.

Outside in the restaurant, Kyuhyun hummed to himself as he leaned back against the chair. His friend who had been silent all the while, continued giving Kyuhyun a look.

"Say what's been on your mind." Kyuhyun uttered as he drank his wine.

Eeteuk scoffed. "You must be proud of yourself."

"I am." Kyuhyun agreed, biting into the sweet fruit.

"Three weeks." Eeeteuk taunted, arms crossed, cringing at the attempts the other used the entire time. "To think it took this long for you to finally have the nerve to ask him. How underhanded I might add."

"Nothing you can say will ruin my mood right now." Kyuhyun smiled triumphantly. "I got what I wanted, I'm happy."

-

"Is it going well?" Kangin asked hopefully, he backed off as Jungmo wielded a rather large, sharped blade.

"Stop asking me if it before I even go on the date. I don't even know if I'll enjoy it."

"Then why did you agree?"

Jungmo thinned his lips. "Might as well suffer for one night rather than three more weeks."

"If you ever need another day off for him, just tell me and I'll-"

"I won't need it."

-

The next day Kangin watched as Jungmo entered through the back kitchen door, holding the largest and most frightening scowl on his face. He assumed the date didn't go well, but the review he read that morning spoke of the highest praise for the restaurant.

"How did it go?" He asked, treading lightly on the topic. "Badly?"

"No." Jungmo muttered, going to the changing room in the back and dropping his belongings to the floor. Kangin arched an eyebrow. "It went better than expected." Jungmo said, his voice still frustrated.

Kangin was stumped on how to go about the topic when Jungmo stepped towards him, dressed in his uniform.

"I... need a day-off this Friday." Kangin nodded. Jungmo sighed when his phone vibrated, he checked the message and for the briefest of the moments, Kangin thought he saw a small smile on his face. It left once Jungmo realized what he was displaying.

To his unfortunate circumstance, he actually fell for the guy.

A/N: Going the opposite compared to last year it seems. For last year's challenge I started off with comedy towards dramatic romance. Now this year it's dramatic to lighthearted romance ^^;
