Thanks so much for continuing this investigation about the bots. It's really strange that LJ took a step backward with these things.

Okay. Update. You know what's annoying? The bots RE-FRIEND you, after LJ takes them off your friendslist! And then...guess what? You CANNOT report them again because you've already reported them previously. WTF!! So now we're stuck with the same problem, only worse...because LJ itself will prevent you from doing anything about it.

I already opened a query about this, but the WTFery of it all blows my mind.

contrary to some reports - i can't help but think they're talking about me here!

I asked them specifically if there were no longer deleting them, and they did not deny it, so it's weird they can't get their story straight

They eventually deleted the bots I reported, but it's curious how noticeably slower they are now. I'm just glad they did not respond with the standard boilerplate response that doesn't say anything. :)

The number of bots was definitely increasing for a while there, but i haven't had any add me in a over a week!

Thought I'd add my experience.

I reported 2 bots to LJ (via their reporting tool) back on April 18th. One was suspended, the other was not.

After seeing your post, I opened a support request on June 11th and politely asked if any action would be taken on the 2nd bot.

No reply from LJ, but I did see today that the bot has finally been suspended. \o/
