To prepare a manky microwave oven for cleaning, first put a cup or bowl of water with lemon juice or vinegar in it, nuke on full power for 5 minutes (depending on power of the microwave/amount of water). Softens grime up nicely... except when it doesn't.

I suppose I should have mentioned heating the water/vinegar mixture. Will edit post again.

Well, creating steam can be described scientifically! So can the action of acidic vinegar/lemon juice on grease. Not by me though.

That sounds awesome. I am personally in favour of *killing* everything in sight in big cleans but don't have the spoons in shoulders/arms these days... It is SO satisfying knowing you've done a good job tho.

At home, I prefer to do a little bit every day. But killing everything is much more satisfying. I used up my wrists and then some - but it was worth it. No gaming/weightlifting for me for the next couple of days.
